Emily Portsman has a secret, and three years ago she decided the best way to keep it would be to work at the Tantalus Club, a notorious gaming establishment for gentlemen. It's not the sort of work a beautiful, well-bred governess would ever consider - unless she's hiding from her past and a man who wants to destroy her present....
Nate Stokes, Earl of Westfall, is a supremely accomplished former spy more at home on London's seedy streets than in any glittery ballroom. His peers know him only as a bookish fellow who can find anything - or anyone. When the Marquis of Ebberling hires him to find a murderess, Nate's search leads him to the Tantalus Club and Emily Portsman. In a game where no one is who they seem and when every conversation is a deadly dance of trust and desire, the only thing Nate knows for sure is that once he gets Emily in his arms, he will never let go....

Not bad.

Unfortunately (but fortunately for them I guess) the pair hit it off immediately, seemed to go to bed together from almost the start and it was their first meeting - alright they each had their motives but this left a big gap for the listener to enjoy and savour the romantic and emotional build-up towards love and, hopefully, all the sexual chemistry which is involved. They have their sexual encounters but not too explicit, the plot seemed to overwhelm and drown the couple's relationship. However, thumbs up for the book cover!!!
Worth a credit? I have listened to them all and she is an author I like so I guess, for me, it would be a YES but for someone new to the series/author then I would have to say NO keep your credit because she's written far better books. This could be a stand alone listen.
UNFORTUNATELY NOT THE BEST OF THE SERIES

Where does The Handbook to Handling His Lordship rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
middleWhat other book might you compare The Handbook to Handling His Lordship to and why?
It has a bit of a Courtney Milan feel to it, in that the characters are uncomfortable with rank and actually work. What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was rather bland. It's possible that it's just that I don't like Anne Flosnik's voice. She has a low, almost grating, tone that just bothers me.Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I liked that the heroine's values were more liberated, and I loved the resolution.very few cliches here!
