Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Thrilling & Diabolical

Wow, this story just blew me away, it sucked me in right from the start, grabbed my attention and held it hostage for the entire book. It is my first book written by Lilian Harris and it definitely will not be my last, I hope to hear more of her books on audio soon. She is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style and a creative mind, I loved the originality of this story, she takes you into a mafia world but she does not make it all about the mafia, but as an outsider looking in, that said the world building and character development is phenomenal. Chiara Bianchi and Dominick Cavaleri were best friends despite her father forbidding her to spend time with him, he thought the Cavaleri family were trash and did not want her associating with them. Dominick’s family owned the bakery and Chiara’s mother knew they were good people and allowed her to spend time with her friend and hid that from her father. Chiara’s father was ruthless and was cruel to them both, abusive too. Her mother was looking for a way to get them out and promised her it would be soon. But her controlling father goes off the rails and it forever changed both Chiara and Dominicks life. I loved everything about this book and how it all played out. It is a cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and some steamy romance. Lilian Harris, thank you for this amazing story and the wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the amazing narration, Gideon Frost and Lessa Lamb are wonderfully talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They were the perfect cast to bring these characters and story to life, and did so with a complete understanding of each character they portrayed and were believable in every role they played. Lessa Lamb’s Chiara was fantastic, she grew with the role as she aged, from a child to adulthood, and she grasped all sides of her personality thru those years as well, from a frightened child all the way to the confident, strong woman she became. Gideon Frost did the same for Dominick, varying his voice thru the years and becoming the hardened, alpha boss he became. Both were great performing the roles of all the secondary and support characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to, and their narration enhanced this already brilliant story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

This is the first book in the Cavaleri Brothers series. Dom and Chiara were best friends since the first time they met. Chiara’s father was a bad man. He is the boss of the Palermo Mafia family. Dom witnessed the horrific murder of his father and little brother. He took is other brothers and ran. He swore he would do whatever it takes to revenge his family. Fifteen years later and it is time to start his plan to seek his revenge. Dom and Chiara never forgot about each other over the years. Lessa Lamb and Gideon Frost did a phenomenal job narrating this book. I can’t wait to listen to book two!

Loved this couple

I really liked this book. Looking forward to book 2, I didn’t see a book 2 listed and this one was finished in 2022. Is there going to be a book 2?

overall it was good

The girl character got on my last nerve. She tried to be a bada-- but couldn't do anything to back it up, and she chased Dom around like a dog in heat. Narrators were excellent

The story starts off in the past when the MCs are kids. Both narrator's did a fantastic job narrating those chapters. Betrayal, lies and a misunderstanding lead to Dante hating Chiara in the present. I'll be honest and say the miscommunication wasn't huge enough for Dante to be so angry but what her father did definitely was. The brothers want revenge and the heroine is just a pawn. She's strong and has endured a lot but most of it is off the page. I wouldn't consider Dante an anti-hero because despite him being ruthless with others he isn't with Chiara. This is the first in a series of stand-alones. Overall it was an enjoyable story and good if you're in the mood for a revenge plot and kidnapping.
