Excellent mystery 4.5 stars

If half stars were an option I would give The Devil’s Bed 4.5 stars! Fast paced and very well written; plot twists and excellent character development keeps the story moving along and keeps the reader engaged. I wish William Kent Krueger would continue a series with Bo Thorsen.

Great characters!

I enjoy characters who are not all good or all bad and story lines that surprise. Krueger delivers on both points in this novel. Characters who evolve make for thought provoking reading which supersedes mere entertainment.

Not Krueger's Best Work

I'm a fan of William Kent Krueger's Cork O'Connor books. The characters, settings and underlying motivations are distinctive.
This book, in my opinion, was a run-of-the-mill mystery with lots of gunfights. The narrator was so intense from start to end that the intensity lost its effect.
I still recommend this author, but try a different book,

That there are good people in the world

Dated, but gives one hope in this world that there are good people in this country, even in the white house

Well Written and Well Told

WKK's writing in the Devil's Bed is very good. His Cork Corcoran series... I've listened to them all...are consistently first class for the genre. But two of his novels,
Ordinary Grace and This Tender Land, rise to another, higher level of excellence. WKK is capable of spinning prose into the golden realm of poetry. James Dickey's novel, Deliverance, is similar in this regard.

Just the best

So sorry that this didn’t lead to a series. One of the best mystery thrillers out there, from one of the best storytellers. Enjoy!

A really twisted plot

You never an figure out how the tides will turn next. Really kept me interested. Very enjoyable, but I must admit the first couple of chapters nearly turned me off. The rest of the book was not nearly as twisted and the reason for those chapters became evident.

Difficult to follow storyline

Jay Snyder always exceeds my expectations as a narrator.
However, a narrator can only do so much for a story.

Another exciting Krueger story

I have listened to several of William Kent Krueger books, and this one every much as interesting as the others. I have recommended books by Mr. Krueger to several friends, and have yet to find one of his books which I can’t wait to get back to if I have an interruption. Thank you .

Mr. Snyder’s narration was excellent; especially since the dialogue required him to speak in several different voices constantly. All in all a great experience. Thank you.
