UPDATED REVIEW: I accidentally clicked on this audiobook on my phone recently, and I was shocked to hear a male narrator. What a difference the addition of a male narrator makes. The combination of Christian Fox and Lorelei Avalon is fantastic. The captain of the hockey team is much more believable (and swoony) when read by a male narrator. I have listened to it twice since the re-recording, and now I am exceedingly happy that I never returned this book when I listened the first time.

Original Review: I loved this book, and I loved her other book The Mistake. Unfortunately, it loses something in the audiobook. The narrator is talented as a female narrator. However, I will never understand why authors (or is it the publisher's decision) who write books with alternating POVs elect to use only 1 narrator for the audiobook. The suspension of disbelief is difficult when the tough hockey player hero sounds like a girl with a cold instead of a guy.

Other than that, it really is a fun story that made me smile all the way through. Unless you need the audiobook because you have a long commute, read the book.

I had to stop listening because the female narrator is terrible. I really liked the book and woke definitely recommend READING it. Don’t waste your hair cells by listening to it.

I really enjoyed this story. Garrett was so tenacious in his love for Hannah. Looking forward to the next story in the series. I highly recommend.

Audio isn't as bad as others make it seem!

Where does The Deal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Let me be the first to say that on a scale of 1 to 10 it's unrealistic to expect every audio to be rated a 10; with 10 being the highest. When I first read the views on this book I avoided this book for several months. Most stated that one should just read the book instead....then one day I just bit the bullet and I must say I am glad I did....and even though I wouldn't rate the book an 8-10 I wouldn't rate it an 1-3 either. For those who wonder why authors don't just get a male pov for a male and female pov for a female...I wonder do they really understand just how complex the process is....it's not as simple as every one makes it out to be...I did a little research on it. In my opinion the audio is an OK listen....the story line is awesome, I was so wrapped up in the story....I completed the book in 2 days couldn't put it down!.....The biggest thing I saw with her voice it seemed to go in and out when doing her male pov....I think she can do a male pov good it's just during certain times where certain emotions had to be displayed it would be hard for her to maintain. Other than that practice makes perfect.

Heartwarming survivor story

Wow. Both main characters had a lot of baggage but managed to find a HEA. Love both main characters. One of my favorite newly found authors!

Great story —- TERRIBLE female narrator

This is a great story, but holy Toledo. The female narrator is SO BAD. Her voice is annoying and doesn’t fit the character at all. Like other reviews have stated, she sounds like she’s in her 50s and has smokes a pack a day. It makes it hard to listen to, but I discovered that if you put the speed to 1.2 or 1.3 that makes her chapters more bearable.

Great story

A lot of people complained about the female narrator, but I didn't think she was that bad. I have definitely heard worse! I thought the story was really good and kept my attention. I did not get distracted by the narrator as I was afraid I might based on the other reviews.

The story was great. def fell in love with Garrett. I thought hanna did dumb stuff for someone who is supposed to be really smart. Regardless, i loved the story. but the female narrator sounded like a frumpy middle aged depressed librarian. she didn’t give me “young bombshell w stripper tits” vibe. that’s my only dislike.
