Resumen del Editor

Romance, drudgery, and dungeons collide in the second book of this inventive progression-fantasy series blending office humor and RPGs.

Ever since James Lyle found an alternate dimension hidden in the stairwell of his workplace, things have been, well, weird. For one thing, when he’s not working the night shift, he’s battling killer mail carts and ravenous swarms of sticky notes. For another, he’s dealing with some very complex and intense emotions for several of his friends. Meanwhile, his parents have offloaded his younger sister on him, a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things but it certainly doesn’t help.

As if all this weren’t enough, James’s voyages into the dungeon world seem to be having a strange effect on the world in which he actually lives. His memories are disappearing, changing—to the point where people he knows should exist somehow seem to have been wiped from reality. Logic would say he and his questing mates should maybe, I don’t know, stop heading into the eerie maze of seemingly endless cubicles and dubiously useful skill orbs? But if James is going to set his plane of existence right, he’ll need to defeat the corporate darkness he’s uncovered . . .

Blending slice of life with snarky working-class humor, brilliant role-playing mechanics, and irresistible world-building, The Daily Grind 2 is a pitch-perfect continuation of an epic series, guaranteed to charm anyone who’s ever dealt with the nine-to-five slog.

The second volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than four million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

book

It's better than the first book since it actually has a plot and enough characters the whole time.

Not as good as the first one

I don’t care what anyone does romanticly in their own life but just like irl romantic relationships in the office can be a bad idea if you’re displaying it as often as they do in this book. There’s no graphic sex scenes or discussions about bedroom antics but the constant tension between the characters kills the plot for the rest of the book. I hope the shiny new relationship feelings wears off and the next one gets back to the main story that drew me in the first time.

Fantastic continuation

A splendid sequel to the first book. Only negative thing I can say is that I would have liked more time with the characters. More slice of life. But it is nicely setup and I can’t wait to start the next one.

Fantastic Story, Great Characters, Healthy Queer Relationships

Creative, well written, great characters, fun and interesting to listen to. Great narration.

Some of the characters are in a healthy polyamorous queer relationship, and it’s sweet and hella fun. 2 of the 3 are guys. As a gay poly man myself I really appreciated the positive representation and that it, while fun character building, wasn’t the crux of the complex narrative, which can get sappy fast. The dungeon is the showpiece, and survival and growth is the game.

A great expansion on the first book!

I really felt that this book escalated the series well. The first book has lots of great ideas and fun characters but it felt like the narrative arcs were too short to build up a lot of tension. That's greatly improved in this book, with some more meaty, long term goals which drive the characters along. Also, the world building in this book starts to try and tie together previous threads into something more coherent and meaningful.

I noticed that quite a few people seem to have been upset at the introduction of lgbtq themes. Personally, I thought it was an interesting expansion on the characters and added depth to the relationships. However, for those of you for whom it's not your cup of tea, it's worth pointing out that it's not the main theme of this book at all. Far more time is spent thinking about the nature of heroism or what drives people to improve themselves. I think you'll still find a lot to enjoy in the book.

A complete story and I am glad that more is coming

The second book does a good job at touching most of the previously hinted at ideas and leaves the story open to be built upon more. I am looking forward to book 3.

Relationship Warning

A wonderful continuation of the previous book, and I thoroughly enjoyed all twelve chapters I read.

However, I feel the need to warn you that three major characters get into a polyamorous relationship. The love-triangle-thing is well written, healthy, and pretty tame by most romance standards. Overall, 9/10 romance content that progresses some good character stuff and makes sense for those people. It's not even that plot relevant, so it can be safely ignored if you're not into that sort of thing.

That said, I have an unhealthy complex about poly stuff and can't continue to read past it, and thought I should let others know. And honestly? The poly thing's not an issue, I'm just messed up. If any of these three were couples, I'd be singing their praises, but what can I do.

If I were you, I'd still give this book a read regardless of what you think you'll feel. It's good work.

great addition to the series

ok, I'll admit the poly relationships and such aren't my cup of tea - everyone's got their own preferences right?
that said, the relationship stuff is super tame and doesn't distract from the story in the least. loved the world building and character development, especially that of the familiars like Rufus (my favorite little stapler out of the bunch)
looking forward to where book 3 takes us!

author and narrator did a great job and I'm excited for the next book! not to mention reading other stuff from this author *cough* kitty cat kill sat *cough* (such a great name)

a great conclusion and set up for more

This is a great story of self discovery, and perseverance in the face of overwhelming adversity. We all feel like we're stuck in a soul destroying world, but these heros can have their souls sucked out. If you enjoyed the first one, this added just enough to feel fresh, and doesn't repeat on too much. Enhoy!

more like "daily Grindr"

I'm cool with real people being homosexual. whatever one likes is their business. at the same time, I'm not really a fan of spending money to hear a story about a couple guys being shy about their love..
while being chased by staplers.

at one point they are
*spoiler alert*
saved by homosexuality.
not exaggerating.

if you couldn't care less, hey, bone appetite.
if you don't fancy spending hours listening to constant references to forbidden love, maybe skip this one.

side note.
there's a point in the story where two characters discuss the importance of doing the right thing while disparaging people who obey speed limits.
so. yeah. psychology for you.
