Magnificent

I'm on chapter 39. I know I'm not done with this book. But this is why this is my favorite series, the language, story, characters. I can't get enough. I reread them all the time. After the last book, which by itself was fine, but sort of disconnected, and left me wanting, this is the world of Pendergast on fire. I wish it would never end. I schlepp myself year after year, waiting for each new book, only to read it in one sitting, and then having to wait, from book to book, for the next one, consuming them like nectar. The last one left me in tears, for a lack of Pendergast, Constance, Proctor, D'Agosta, Mrs. Trask. But here we are again, on a storyteller's night, with the deep fabric that is his story. It is so good, I couldn't wait to finish to tell you to step through that door. He's the best literary character ever written. The most finely honed. This makes my heart sing. XO.

This continuation of Bloodless is gripping and full of surprises - especially the end! I will say no more. Read it, you won’t be disappointed!

This is by far my favorite enduring series - staying true to the suspense and out of this world intrigue I loved from the beginning. I wish I had gone back and read at least the end of Bloodless before beginning this book since it continues from there. Looking forward to the conclusion in the next book!
