Spicy sweet cute love the fake dating trope

Jenn is who got me started reading spicy books. She’s a wonderful person with a great heart. You will love this audiobook! Most definitely a must read!

Couldn’t wait for this second book to come out!

The suspense for this 2nd book was unreal. I just love Jenn’s books so much! Very cute story. A little predictable. Spicy. Keep this series coming!!! I can’t wait for book 3 on audible. Already have it pre ordered! These books just have a crazy hold on me. I cannot stop listening to them.

The story
Avery is a walking, talking burst of chaos fun, unapologetic, and allergic to the idea of settling down. Marc Ford, on the other hand, is her complete opposite: stable, traditional, and in search of a forever partner.

When Marc’s boss announces he’ll only pass down his real estate agency to someone in a committed relationship, Marc’s career future suddenly hinges on one crazy idea convincing Avery to be his fake fiancée for the summer.

They couldn’t be more different, but playing a loving, engaged couple means spending every moment together. And when the lines blur—both in public and behind closed doors it’s clear this “fake” relationship is getting dangerously real.

What I loved
✔️ Avery. Full stop. She’s bold, filter-free, and impossible not to root for. My favorite line about Every? "She’s a wildcard. A ticking time bomb if you will. The girl has no filter and a dirty mouth. She’s about five foot four with a six-foot five attitude on her." That’s exactly who she is.
✔️ Fake fiancé + opposites attract = banter gold.
✔️ The spice? 🔥🔥🔥 If That First Night started strong, this one keeps the heat level just as high.
✔️ Playful, snappy pacing that made it a perfect weekend listen.
✔️ Marc’s “serious meets sweet” energy balanced Avery’s chaos perfectly.

🎧Narration
Laurie West nailed Avery’s personality, giving her voice all the sass, wit, and confidence she deserves. Alex Kydd was serviceable but didn’t fully match the charisma and energy of his co-narrator.

That First Date is pure entertainment fast, flirty, and unapologetically hot. Jenn McMahon has officially cemented herself on my “auto-buy” list after this duet.
