Resumen del Editor

A no-holds-barred look into the remarkable life and career of the prolific musician, songwriter, and producer behind Eurythmics and dozens of pop hits.

Dave Stewart’s life has been a wild ride - one filled with music, constant reinvention, and the never-ending drive to create. Growing up in industrial Northern England, he left home for the gritty London streets of the 70's, where he began collaborating and performing with various musicians, including a young waitress named Annie Lennox.

The chemistry between Stewart and Lennox was undeniable, and an intense romance developed. While their passion proved too much offstage, they thrived musically and developed their own sound. They called themselves Eurythmics and launched into global stardom with the massively popular album Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).

For the first time, Stewart shares the incredible, high-octane stories of his life in music - the drug-fueled adventures, the A-list collaborations and relationships, and the creative process that brought us blockbusters from Eurythmics like “Here Comes the Rain Again” and “Would I Lie to You” as well as Tom Petty’s “Don’t Come Around Here No More”, No Doubt’s “Underneath It All,” Golden Globe winner “Old Habits Die Hard” with Mick Jagger, and many more.

From great friendships and creative partnerships including the group SuperHeavy along with Jagger, Joss Stone, Damian Marley, and A. R. Rahman, to inspired performances and intimate moments in the studio - Stewart highlights the musicians he admires and calls friends, from Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Elton John, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr to Bono, Bon Jovi, and Katy Perry.

With a behind-the-scenes look at Stewart’s innovative endeavors that keep him on the cutting-edge of the music business, Sweet Dreams Are Made of This is a one-of-a-kind portrait of the creative heart of one of its most gifted and enterprising contributors

.With a Foreword by Mick Jagger!

Lots of music start stories

Dave has worked with them all and is a great musician in his own right. You'll get some great stories about some of the biggest stars in the music business from Dylan, Petty, Harrison and of course Annie Lennox.
The stories move along nicely, Dave has a soft Newcastle accent which is great, but when he reads the book his voice goes up at the end of most sentences like he's asking a question, you get used to it after a while.

Who's who of Rock and roll

I enjoyed the first person narration by Dave Stewart the story for fun, interesting an incredible. it is amazing when you find out who Dave has work with. And all to hit songs he has been involved with. from Tom Petty to the Traveling Wilburys, Stevie Nicks The Eurythmics and many many more. I love the section about Mick Jagger. if you're interested in 80's and 90's rock and roll, this is the biography for you. the musical interludes are also very good in this selection.

Even Better Than I Expected

I’ve always enjoyed the Eurythmics but I had no idea of the other work Dave was involved in. What a life! I enjoyed every minute. He also performed very well. Not all authors are good readers.

A Joyful, Deep, Meaningful Journey with Dave!

Having Dave Stewart read his memoir to me was a really great time and a journey worth repeating. his ups were joyous and his lows harrowing, and all were a riveting adventure. The music interludes were a rich bonus that brought a lot to the listen. I learned more than I ever thought I would about Dave and it was all fantastic!

More than an audiobook

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I've listened to and loved several musician's autobiographies, but this was the only on that has included music. There are two full songs and several snippets. It helped bring the story to life. Mr. Stewart's delivery was fun and felt spontaneous. It made me feel that anyone ready the print book would be missing out a little.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I felt like I was going on a ride with Dave Stewart. So few people get to experience the level of stardom, influence and creativity he has. It was exciting feeling like I was in the room as the Eurythmics crafted their first songs, or Mr. Stewart's first meeting with Stevie Nicks or turning Maria McKee's "A Good Heart" into a worldwide hit for Fergal Sharkey.

Any additional comments?

Mr. Stewart tends to focus on the positive aspects of his career and personal life, but doesn't leave out the sadness, tragedies or frustrations. He seems like a person who is grateful for the opportunities he's had and has made the most of him. I enjoyed the journey through his life while listening to the book and felt inspired to be more creative myself.
