Glad that tree hugger “I know what’s good for everyone” has said good bye. Sorry books are in 3rd person narration. Liked having Gunther’s perspective.

But still a good listen. Wishing Joe good luck!

Great series but....

Can we get rid of Gail Ziggman please? The stories and the other characters are excellent then there is Gail. We get it she was rapped we dont need to hear her throw it in joes face every time they speak. All gail seems to do is whin about her privileged life and grip at joe because she was rapped. No matter what joe say or what kind of problem he is having when he tries to talk to gail either she cant make time or she throws her rap into it. Its really getting stupid. I hope joe kicks her to the curb soon it would really make the story alot better.

I miss Tom Taylorson’s voice

I’ve listened to 5 Archer Mayor books, but had skipped St. Alban’s Fire. After listening to “Presumption Of Guilt,” I felt compelled to listen to “St. Alban’s Fire” to figure out what had caused Samantha Martins to marry Willie Kunkle :)
As soon as the first few paragraphs were read, I knew there had been a change. But when I heard the voice for Joe Gunther, I almost stopped listening. Tom Taylorson gives a tone and attitudinal voice that befits the character that I’ve come to enjoy as “Joe Gunther.” I’ll struggle through the rest of the book solely because I TOTALLY enjoy Archer’s writing!

So much better the second time around!

I am revisiting the Joe Gunther books and found that I like this book so much more the second time around! The first death scene is so heartbreaking (both the human and non-human victims), that I let it color my enjoyment of the whole book. I also had trouble sympathizing with my least favorite character in the series which also stole my joy. I find Gail selfish, thoughtless, immature, and narcissistic. Forewarned is forearmed, so I managed to push through her private musings and actions and actually enjoyed solving the crime this time. Tom Taylorson was still a wonderful narrator and the book was so much better. I'm glad I gave this book a second chance.

Tom Taylorson is awesome

This series is my “comfort” series. I love Tom Taylorson’s narration. He does such a good job with the characters. The book was good. I still kind of miss the first person narrative but I have enjoyed getting to know the other characters more.

Best one in a long while

Really good story line with not too many characters as many have before. Kept my attention the entire book!

Yes!

This book is so good! I found it after listening to it by another ( not nearly as good) narrator. Stick with Tom, he makes this series SO much better! Which is saying a lot. Archer ( love the name) definitely has talent!

Super sleuthed powerful poignant mystery!!!

Mayer and and Taylorson are absolutely brilliant. better than bacon and eggs, pastrami on rye, meatballs and spaghetti... get it... a veritable feast awaits. The writing is beyond first class the narration beyond brilliant. I could not stop listening in amazement to a wonderful storyline dialogue plot twists characters and such pathos. it's quite powerful. Enjoy it for yourself 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟PS all along I tried to like Gail Zigman thinking perhaps she was a kind of Lauren Bacall type figure and voice but she comes off quite rough in this one for sure. I wonder what happens going forward to the series couple.

Really enjoyed listening to this one. All Joe Gunther books have been good, this one was just very good to me. Snd I love Tom Taylorson being the narrator. He is so good and consistent.
