Glad that tree hugger “I know what’s good for everyone” has said good bye. Sorry books are in 3rd person narration. Liked having Gunther’s perspective.

But still a good listen. Wishing Joe good luck!

Best one in a long while

Really good story line with not too many characters as many have before. Kept my attention the entire book!

Yes!

This book is so good! I found it after listening to it by another ( not nearly as good) narrator. Stick with Tom, he makes this series SO much better! Which is saying a lot. Archer ( love the name) definitely has talent!

Super sleuthed powerful poignant mystery!!!

Mayer and and Taylorson are absolutely brilliant. better than bacon and eggs, pastrami on rye, meatballs and spaghetti... get it... a veritable feast awaits. The writing is beyond first class the narration beyond brilliant. I could not stop listening in amazement to a wonderful storyline dialogue plot twists characters and such pathos. it's quite powerful. Enjoy it for yourself 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟PS all along I tried to like Gail Zigman thinking perhaps she was a kind of Lauren Bacall type figure and voice but she comes off quite rough in this one for sure. I wonder what happens going forward to the series couple.

Good riddance Gail

I've been enjoying all books, except that Gail has really been grinding on my nerves (guess that's the sign of good authorship:o). Hope she's out of Joe's hair for sure.

Joe Gunther rides again

I wish someone would make a series of this character. He’s smart, sensitive, cunning and experienced. St. Alban’s Fire is no exception to the series. Good story line, clever, insightful characters. What’s not to love?. Thank you Archer Mayor for keeping Joe’s experiences alive.

A Sad Story

This is the most emotional and utterly sad story of the Joe Gunther novels. A good story to be sure.

Grim

One of the least enjoyable books in the series for me. Starts out disturbingly grim and just grows increasingly so as the story unfolds. I know these are crime stories, and if constructed with any sense of reality, they’re going to be dark. In general, I like that aspect of the series. But, usually, Mayor weaves in a bit of humor, and works in a somewhat redemptive subplot. Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t feel it here.

Anyway. Not a bad book, per se, but it was a downer, and left me wanting to take a break before moving on to the next installment.

Solid story as usual

Archer’s series continues to be one of my go tos. Good mystery, complex characters, and great narration.

Great story line

Enjoying the continuation of the repeating character’s development and look forward to what comes next for Gunther’s personal life…
