As Holo and Lawrence begin the final leg of their journey, Lawrence decides to accompany Holo to her ancient home of Yoitsu, if only to forestall their parting just a bit longer. Boarding a ship from the port of Lenos (much to the chagrin of the wisewolf, who is none too fond of water!), the pair's fate becomes entangled with that of a boy named Col, whose tale of his circumstances - combined with the gossip of the sailors - leads to a shocking revelation about Holo's homeland!

Both narrators are great. Both can do Lawrence and holo and it isn’t jarring. I especially appreciate brina’s holo, she really captures holo’s charm.

Really good

Just like the rest of the seires this volume does a great job convening the story and emotions. It's just sad that we're going to have to wait a bit until the next volume is released in audiobook.

Another good listen

I really love the entire premise of this book and the narration is great too!

love this series

Never disappointed. All I can say is I love everything about this series. It's easily my favorite media between the anime, manga and light novel.

Excellent as expected

I lied this volume as it more about the travel and the people than buying and selling. I know this is a setup volume for future ones and does a good job of expanding the characters and introducing new one.

Another great volume

Having the English voice actors narrate this audio book makes is so nostalgic for me.

Love the immersion

I love this series so much that I have physical copies and with audible can now hear it read to me.

Always good!

Narration is split between J. Michael Tatum and Brina Palencia, which would have been wonderful had they been voicing their respective characters. Instead they each narrate about half the story. It is quite jarring and unimmersive. We have to listen to Michael voicing Holo and Brina voicing Lawrence, it feels silly given the fact that we have the correct VAs for both characters working together on this audiobook. Hopefully they leave narrating to J. Michael Tatum for future books (since the books are from Lawrence's perspective) and have Brina Palencia only voice Holo and other female characters in the next releases. Personally dropping the audiobook.

Lawrence voiced by female and Holo voiced by male

Relative to prior volumes, this book feels far and away the slowest and "inconsequential" - new characters are introduced, and there is a bit of drama, but it feels more contrived than anything else. The first three volumes had memorable locales, exciting and varied narratives in both content and pacing, and developed the relationship between Holo and Lawrence in a satisfyingly slow way with bits of drama; books four and five felt muddier, both in terms of the core plot for each book and in terms of furthering that relationship (yes, some really critical moments happened in terms of the latter, but a huge translational fumble dulled the impact at the end of book five); this book, book six, has essentially no memorable locale, no real plot to speak of aside from "we're on a boat, mother******s", and a real wishy-washy way of treating the relationship between Lawrence and Holo - oftentimes feeling like things have gone one step forward, two steps back, one step back forward, then three steps in a circle, with the classic Lawrence-is-always-the-fool routine. The new-ish core of their relational tension tips over into melodrama, which is exacerbated by the plodding overall plot and relatively anemic supporting cast, and there were moments where I was left scratching my head entirely, wondering if my lack of investment was somehow my fault and not the book's....

My understanding is that this book is essentially setup for the next few books, which makes sense; I would listen with this in mind so you don't come away thinking the quality of the storytelling has fallen off a large, steep hill that's not quite a cliff.

3.5/5 for getting to spend time with these two nonetheless and for the stellar VA performances, as per usual.

A lull in the series
