Caught behind enemy lines, Captain Jaxon Steele fought his way out and saved the Union fleet from a devastating ambush. Now, as the Hegemony attacks on all fronts, Steele prepares to fight back.

Enemy forces are gathering in the independent Santana system. Santana is lawless and desolate—but it's the perfect launchpad for an attack on Union space. Is the Hegemony preparing to invade?

Steele takes command of the destroyer Wolverine, with orders to gather critical intelligence on this new threat. In a system where dangers hide in every shadow, even the smallest error could put his ship in the crosshairs of a pirate cruiser or a Hegemony battleship.

Steele needs stealth and secrecy to pull off this mission. But Wolverine is a relic of the last war, with failing systems and a mutinous crew. Even worse, the intelligence operative Miller has come aboard without warning. It's clear this is no longer a simple recon assignment—far more is at stake.

As they journey deep into hostile space, a lethal conspiracy begins to emerge from the darkness. Can Steele transform his new ship into an effective weapon of war? The future of the Union is at stake and only a Command Decision can save it.

Loved how Marc has set up the 3rd book. Really invested in the characters and the tension in the action sequences is great.

A masterful 2nd book of a great series

I really enjoyed the book. Marc Alan Edelheit is one of my favorite authors. I have listened to everything that he has published. Good writing and a story well read is a winning combination something accomplished here. Marc knows how to develop characters that you can like and you’re willing to invest the time to understand them.

Not my normal genre. But by my favorite author.

This was an amazing second book for the series! Action packed from start to finish! I love the way that we follow Captain Steele through the rigors of command and battle while still getting a glimpse of the overall picture through another character (no spoilers)! Close quarter action, stealth and command decisions abound! The characters are dynamic and well written and the pace is great! I look forward to continuing to consume this series! With where this ended I am counting down the days to the next book!

Wolverine! War and Stealth in Space!

10/10! A fantastic sequel book! Once again the writing and voice acting are superb.

What really hit me was how Edelheit was able to capture the importance of senior enlisted in the military, NCOs are called the "backbone" for a reason.

Overall I enjoyed it but still wished the book was longer if only to fit more of the lore into the story.

Looking forward to the next book!

Space action and military discipline.

I've listend to the first two books of this series and the utter sappiness of "Jackson Steele" has pretty much made me gag. I'm pretty sure neither the author nor the narrator have been in combat. Or in the military at all for that matter. I can't face the third book. Reminds me of William Shatner playing Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind. "Frankly, Chase, I ..... don't ...... give ...... a ..... damn! But I must. I can't let the crew see I'm scared. I'm their leader". Gag. There's something on the wing,........some......thing .... on the wing! The few fight scenes were pretty good, but the expanse of minutia filling most of the book was annoying. He's just not my style. I can't listen any further.

Jackson Steele is just too Sappy for me ....
