It all comes out!

I needed this book to complete this series in my mind! This series has taken me through some emotions and a whole lot of action/suspense. Everyone loved Ford and while he'd been through a lot in his life so had Tessa. Tessa was the villain in our mind but actually getting to know her and see her story opens you up to a whole new view.

Ford and Tessa's HEA hasn't been easy. After a horrific situation Tessa was forced into, she decides it's time to leave her former life behind. Moving back to Seattle, she finds solace with Bennett. He knows all her secrets and is the only person who has been there for her. When Ford is hurt, Tessa returns to see for herself that he's ok being he's the only man she's ever really loved. When the truth comes out, Ford begs Tessa to give him another chance to right all his wrongs even though she's engaged to Bennett.

Will Tessa choose her one and only true love or the man that comforted her during the darkest part of her life. Story could cause triggers for some, so be cautious.

Pretty Broken Promises

Pretty Broken Promises is the second book in the Pretty Broken Duet. This book is the continuation of Ford and Tessa's story and is told from both of their points of view. This book starts off after book one ends.

There was a big thing that came out in the end of book one. Tessa has been through some rough things. She's having a hard time getting past it. When her friend asks her to marry him she considers it. She knows Ford and herself are bad for each other.

When something happens to Ford, Tessa returns home to see him. Their still have feelings for each other. Ford will show Tessa that he will be there no matter what. They still have to deal with her father, as well as other factors trying to rip them apart.

Can they get past everything that is shoved at them? Will they finally get their happy ending after everything that is thrown at them?

The conclusion of this duet. The narrators did a great job. I enjoyed listening to this once I started i didn't want to stop I liked this one more than the first they acted a bit more mature than the first part. In this one you get all the obstacles they have to face, the consequences to actions, more revelations and truths revealed.

Great character growth!

This is an excellent conclusion to the series. The narrators do a wonderful job telling the story. They're able to convey a lot of feeling with the dialog. I would recommend this two book series.

Carillo builds addictive worlds and this is no exception. It was a delicious read, as always.

Written in alternating 1st person POV.
Could read this duet out of order, & not be totally lost, though I rec in order.

Excellent, flawless! Perfectly crisp sound quality, alternating M/F parts, amazing. Beautiful acting. The volume fluctuated throughout, drastically—that’s my only complaint.

A smooth ending

I gave the last book 3.5/5⭐️ because the transition from a heartbreaking love story to a mafia, trauma story wasn’t seamless. But I think this book redeemed the duet for me. The last one wasn’t bad and was good enough to make me want to continue. So I was really happy to see Ford putting in the work to win Tessa back, not only in the physical sense, but emotionally and wholly, too. This book was much more of how I would’ve wanted book 1 to veer into. Although, I’m not the author and respect that it was written how it played out in their head. I’m giving this one 4⭐️ because it was really good. I really enjoyed it. And the narration was perfect.

Ford and Tessa finally open up enough to get their next chance and the HEA they deserved. Both had been through a lot, as we had witnessed in the first book of the duet and in the connected trilogy. I needed them to find their way back to each other, and this book satisfied that with their emotional journey. The narrators brought it all to life.

Pretty Broken Promises is the conclusion to the Pretty Broken Duet. This story is complex, full of so much chemistry between Ford and Tessa. It is an emotionally charged story, full of so much sexual tension that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You get angst, humor, witty banter, secrets, second chances, heartbreaking moments, love and great friendships. This was a really good read.

Michael Joss and Phillipa Miller did a good job portraying these characters.
