Overthinking is a toxic behavioral pattern for relationships, and chances are you already have a first-hand experience of that. Most of the time, a simple unanswered call or text can trigger a spiral or ruminations and dreadful scenarios that leave you emotionally and physically drained. Experts agree that one of the most common triggers for overthinking patterns is insecurity, which can lead to anxiety and depression.

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Being in a relationship without knowing how to share your feelings and receive your partner’s feelings in useful ways is like jumping into a pool without knowing how to swim. You can flail around all you want, but it’s not going to keep you afloat for very long—you need to be able to move in any direction at will. Like swimming, knowing how to share your feelings and respond to your partner's feelings will move your relationship in the direction you want: toward more intimacy, closeness, connection, and trust.

Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

Those affected by complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) commonly feel as though there is something fundamentally wrong with them - that somewhere inside there is a part of them that needs to be fixed. Though untrue, such beliefs can feel extremely real and frightening. Witnessing your loved one suffer hurts. Find out what you can do to support them without putting your relationship at risk...
Post-traumatic stress disorder, also known as PTSD, is an anxiety disorder that can develop after having witnessed or experienced a traumatic event. Contrary to popular belief, this condition doesn’t only affect soldiers, but also people from all backgrounds and of any age.
Did you know that an estimated 8 million adults are affected by PTSD in the US?
And that’s not counting the family and friends who feel the effects of the disorder as well.
Living with someone suffering from PTSD can prove to be extremely stressful and disheartening, as all you wish is to see them happy and acting like their normal selves.
By taking the time to educate yourself and know what to prepare for, you will have everything you need to serve as a vital piece to the recovery puzzle.
In PTSD and Relationships, you will discover:
- How to support and encourage your loved one through their PTSD without putting your own health and happiness at risk
- Why telling your loved one reassuring phrases such as, “Everything is going to be okay”, is actually doing them more harm than good, and what you should say instead that will aid in their recovery
- The most effective PTSD treatments available, and how to figure out which approach would be the best option for assisting your loved one through their recovery
- And much more
No one wants to see their best friend, family member, or spouse struggle through hardship.
Show them you’re the rock in the relationship and that they can always count on you for support and love whenever they need it, no matter the reason.
If you want to discover how you can aid your loved one through their PTSD recovery without jeopardizing your own well-being, then buy this audiobook right now.

The answer hit a nerve with Cruse: no one had taken the time to explain PTSD to service members in a way that made sense.

Nice one
This book gives inside and out, bit by bit techniques for crushing sorrow. The activities and bits of knowledge in this book are particularly as opposed to winning guiding practices, which expect that on the off chance that you simply talk about your downturn, it will, in the end, settle itself
