Interesting and helpful.

I enjoyed hearing the authors pleasant voice telling her story as nobody else ever could. At the end, she lists many of the organizations that help people with a long list of maladies, such as depression, various addictions, and suicidal tendencies or surviving the suicide of a loved one. She also made me want to watch again some of the movies she payed in, and reread some of her grandfather, Ernest Hemingway's books.

This book offers hope for anyone growing up in a dysfunctional family. It may provide an understanding to someone from a “normal” family to interpret the struggles a person from a dysfunctional family has with everyday experiences.

Fascinating story, sloppy narration

The story was sad and interesting, and I appreciate it was read by the author. However her voice and speech was a bit slurred at times.

it's not what I expected

I'm sure it was because of my own error in not reading the reviews before I purchased. I was expecting more of a history and a connection to the writer Ernest Hemingway. I was given the personal life story of his granddaughter. I will say even though this was not my preferred type of book to read, I was impressed that the author was also the narrator. I believe that gave it a more Personal Touch

An interesting family memoir

I found this story to be a compelling story told well by Ms Hemingway. She reads it quite naturally as if she were telling it to a friend. Worth listening to, especially if there’s been mental illness in one’s family or friend group. The many links given at end of story may be very helpful for those needing assistance.

This one does not disappoint

I grew up admiring women/girls like her. It was a great read that I could relate to and compelled me to keep listening.
