Resumen del Editor

Downton Abbey meets Agatha Christie with a touch of Wodehouse and a dog of distinction.

It's 1920, and Christmas is coming.

Major Lennox finds a body on his doorstep - why on his doorstep? Was it to do with the Countess? Was it about the ruby necklace? Lennox goes to Melrose Court, home to his uncle, Lord Melrose, to uncover the mystery. But then, the murders begin, and it snows, and it all becomes very complicated.

Major Heathcliff Lennox, ex-WW1 war pilot, six feet 3 inches, tousled, dark blond hair, age around 30 - named after the hero of Wuthering Heights by his romantically minded mother - much to his great annoyance. Murder at Melrose Court is the first book in the Lennox series.

Fun Period Piece

It’s a fun mystery, like a cross between Christie and Wodehouse. The narrator’s RP is a bit over the top, but the rest of his accents and voices are well done. Not a fan of screechy falsettos, but it works for the countess. If you like Jeeves & Wooster and Poirot then give it a go. Highly mannered 1920s shenanigans abound, and the highly literary butcher is a highlight.

Fun, lively mystery

What a fun mystery.....I have not finished the book as of yet, I have some ideas who could have done "it"....Its been a long time since I have read anything so enjoyable...yes, there is "murder" but nothing gory....our hero is a bumbler who doesn't seem to realize that he keeps putting his foot into it....I find myself laughing out loud by his thoughts and actions...Sam Dewhurst-Phillips does a great job as a narrator, has brought the characters too life and the author wrote a splendid, fun mystery....so please Karen Baugh Menuhin keep up the good work!!!! I would highly recommend this book to anyone, who likes a good lively and even fun murder mystery.

Clever story, good historical detail, marvelous performance.

This was quite an enjoyable book, set just after WWI, with an unusual protagonist — a former WWI pilot rather than the usual nosy lady running a tea shop. The author gave us an engaging cast of characters, well suited to a continuing series. The performer was extremely good, giving the full range of young and old, gentry and working class, and male and female parts. I will be on the lookout for further works by both author and narrator.

Great story, brilliant performance!

I very much enjoyed the story, and even more so because of Sam Dewhurst-Phillips's performance. He really brought each character to life in very distinct ways. I am looking forward to the next book.

English Mysteries!

My first Audible "read" ... enjoyed the story, the narration, the little English descriptions, and all the characterizations.

A joy

This truly is a wonderful golden age mystery. Structure and plot reminiscent of Agatha Christie, and a good dollop of Wodehouse about the characters and tone.

Very enjoyable!

And the narrator is fabulous. Really hope he will read many more books in his voice career.

Cozy, cute, mystery

Enjoyed this light, amusing mystery. Not heavy, easily distracting, fun. Narrator does a goid job, I'll be checking out the next in the series.
