Superhero Me! (book 3):

But that’s exactly what my fae roommate Deirdre wanted to do: meet her hero, the human Professor Oighrig End. Turns out the professor was speaking at some exclusive event, and me being a sucker, I went with her. It wasn’t like I had anything better to do. I was fighting with my boyfriend, I hated my life and I was so severely depressed that all I really wanted to do was curl up in the fetal position and cry. Getting out would be good for me.

But then someone had to go murder the human professor. And because of a massive snowstorm, we were literally locked in a building with his killer. What did Sherlock Holmes always say when faced with a mystery? “The game’s afoot.” I don’t know about games. I do know that I really wish I had gone with my initial instincts and stayed in bed. I’m Katrina Darling, a 300-year-old ex-vampire who really wishes she’d read more Agatha Christie in her long, long life.

If you like the Dresden Files, Mercy Thompson, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, then you’ll be helplessly addicted to the Mortality Bites series.

Ummm, and the rest of the series is coming soon? Loved the humor, the narration, and the story flows well. I love the foresight tidbits that you get, and it's much later before you learn the importance of them.

I really love both the narrator and the story it is very quirky and cute it has some great points and I definitely want to keep listening it just makes me want to keep listening

second set of books in the series…I’m writing this review now that I’ve read them all. I couldn’t stop listening to write it when I knew the last set was waiting for me 🤦🏼‍♀️😂😂. What a great series. I listened to them all within 3 days. No I evidently have no life 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

So much action and emotions

Poor Kat and her emotions and thoughts. We meet new unexpected characters in these books. Great narration.

A totally new approach to paranormal!

I love paranormal books, and this didn't disappoint. The author had to really do some research to get the story right. It was entertaining and I never knew what to expect or what was coming next. I had to get all 6 books and listened to them in a week.

Interesting twist on religions, gods & folk-lore

I liked the series because they're an easy story to listen to. I listen to & from work. The books are interesting, and the flow of the story is natural. (Including some of Cat's back stories.) I do recommend these books. Ramy's imagination is great, bringing together all the religions and folk-lore.

Candace Thaxton does a wonderful job narrating the books.

Mortality Bites

Love this book.
I’m a fan of vampires, ghouls and witches. This book has all the emotions that a human can experience. Love, sad, awe, mysterious, suspense and a beautiful plot and story. I have to finish the whole series. I recommend this book.

Falling in love with this series.

The narrator is splendid in her performance and giving life to the characters. She captures feelings and emotions in her expressions. I love it

Kat continues her fight for Others

Book 3
Kat is still being the Cherub. She is trying to make amends for hundreds of years of death to humans. Kat and her team fights for the rights of the Others and educate Others on how to live within societal norms. She still has the quirky habit of speaking out loud. In those instances, she is being truthful because the lies tend to stay in her head.

In the GoneGod world were magic no longer exist, there’s now a plethora of superheroes on campus. It is up to Kat to determine how that happen and how to put things right again. What Other is burning time to enable humans to become superheroes? Everyone wants to be a hero, including Justin. Justin is becoming frustrated that he cannot go out with the team and fight. None of the heroes realize their actions have consequences. They do not realize there is a sinister element that is determined to steal their lives and their inability to defeat it. Unfortunately, when humans see and experience the destruction of the superheroes, they view them as Others.

On campus there is an election for Gradner Hall President. Kat decides to run when she discovers a candidate running on a platform of discrimination against Others. With a schedule that includes working, fighting for Others, going to classes, studying and spending time with Justin, will she have enough time to campaign?

For Kat to save the humans she must accept her vampirism. There are not as many or protracted fights with her team. Kat displays her exceptional fighting skills in the final battle.

Book 4
It’s Christmas time, a snowstorm closes campus and the few remaining students are stranded. Kat is not feeling the holiday cheer and her and Justin are having issues.

Kat, Deirdre and Others attend an event that is sponsored by the Seelie court. All the attendees are snowed in when the guest speaker is murdered. Deirdre is accused of the crime only because she is UnSeelie. Kat is enraged by the discrimination and accusations against her friend. She proceeds to solve the murder.

It becomes an Agatha Christie murder mystery. If you have read enough of her mysteries, you will at least guess who committed the murder but not the why.

Unfortunately, Kat does not display any of her fighting skills. I found that disappointing. She basically uses deductive reasoning to attempt to determine the killer. That becomes difficult when it is discovered the Others are keeping secrets. The insidious evil that crept into Justin in book 2 plays a major role in this story.

Kat struggles with living according to the human laws. She is faced with a situation where an Other has a legitimate gripe against another Other for actions before the GoneGod world.

I did not give this 5 stars because Kat’s character is become stale and predictable. Her actions are predicated upon trying to make up for hideous murders that she committed as a vampire.
