Excellent story that kept you guessing

Started a little slow but overall an excellent book. Definitely worth the read. Can’t wait for more books from Sarah

Predictable.

I love a story within a story but it became predictable within the first few chapters after the Doctor was introduced and their relationship began. I wish there was a bigger twist.

Barely finished

There wasn’t enough character development. I didn’t care what happened. And the change of past to present didn’t work for me in this book. I almost gave up many times.

Excellent Story!

This novel had everything I love. A gripping mystery, a realistic love story, and likable, interesting, main characters.

Strengthen the connections and relevance that bind the book together.

I loved that this book kept me wondering the whole time. It mentions real towns and tribes from the area, which added a sense of authenticity. As a Native American with a similar way of life to the main character, I found it both relatable and comforting. It felt good to see parts of my own culture reflected in a story like this.

Needed more development

A good story with lots of potential, but not fully developed. There were loose threads and lost opportunities. I was hoping for more depth.

Well read, nicely developed characters and interesting story. All in all one of the better books selected by my bookclub.

It was okay

This is a story with a lot of details that some may find enjoyable I found it uninteresting. Not much of a mystery and not much of a believable love story. I finished it and didn’t dislike but can’t recommend.

Pulls You In

A engaging story from beginning to end with twists and turns that only make it more believable and compelling. I appreciate so much that the language is free from the extreme foul language used in many crime stories.

If you like where the crawdads sing you’ll like!

While I found this fascinating & intriguing enough, it reminded me soooo much of where the crawdads sing (which I hated). It had the small town mystery element with a dash of romance subplot thrown in that was eerily similar except we are in the males pov.

I don’t really feel like I have too much to say about it. I thought it was fine 🤷🏼‍♀️ there were a few side characters I really liked (Reverend Mills & Cheeto) & I found myself really rooting for Elijah while he build up his homestead. But I just really wanted more out of it as a whole. I wanted more out of the ending, especially. It wrapped up extremely quick & we only got the smallest epilogue. I have so many questionsssss.

However, I think for those that like a mystery plot line without the thriller aspects this one would probably be really enjoyable—especially if you liked WTCS!
