Good one

There are some good lessons to be learned in this book, especially for a young woman who struggles to hold on to the kind of life she has known even though she starts to see on a regular basis that she and her friends are very shallow and all they really have is money.

It took a lot of patience on my part to wade through the book and watch her make mistake after mistake.

Great Character Developement

The book kinda reminds me of the 80's movie Maid To Order. Material Girl is Robin Lear the eldest daughter to very wealthy Aaron Lear owner and founder of Lear freight line. Aaron Lear is dying of cancer lashes out on all of his family members on how they are wasting their lives away due to wealth. Robin is an annoying heiress type with a disgusting sense of entitlement. Her father is scared to leave his company to his incapable daughter and decides to take down a few pegs, he demotes her position in the company so she can learn the business. Robin takes on her new position of "bubble wrap queen" to prove everyone wrong, but she learns the cold hard truth of just how right everyone was about her. Robin's eyes are opened by her hot stud of a contractor renovating her house Jake Manning. Jake teaches Robin that there is a lot more to life then money and wealth doesn't buy happiness. It the beginning you will hate this girl but she grows and you will find yourself rooting for her towards the end. The reason I didn't give it completely 5 stars all around is because there is too much fighting between Jake and Robin about their insecurities and it gets a little annoying, that my only complaint, but its still a good book.

Good book

I liked this book. The storyline was different than most... Rich girl and not a rich Hero.

The heroine has a lot of character growth throughout the book but she acts high and mighty for a good half of the book and that gets a bit old.

Jake the Hero is awesome.

The narrator is great. She does a wonderful male voice.

This is my second or third time reading this serie

Natalie Ross is my favorite narrator. I love the grandparents. they are hilarious. I love the main characters, especially Jake

Indecisive

Two totally different personalities and lifestyles try to make it work with all the opinions and negativity from family and friends making Jake and Robin doubt their budding relationship.She’s 34 and he’ 38,I think people should give them some credit that they’ve both lived long enough to know what they want and who they decide to spend their lives with,not to mention...it’s no one elses bloody business.I think everyone needs to concentrate on getting their own sh!t together instead of nosying into other people’s lives.An aggravating,back and forth,indecisive,listening to others opinions listen.I wanted to do a whole lot of biznitch slapping some sense into some of the characters and to tell a few,to get the he// over themselves.

Outstanding

Being from Houston, it is wonderful to know exactly where places mentioned in this book are. I love how the story line was always a surprise. Enjoyed it so much. A am a devoted new fan.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the near future.

I'll spend 14 hours with Jake any day

The book lasts 13 hrs and 56 minutes. Jake Manning is worth every minute.
Robin.....maybe. Evan...gag. Aaron Lear is a bonafide SOB.

Julia London is not what I would call an "A list" writer -- but I have listened to worse.

Great start to a series

This book showed that people from different classes can work together, can grow, can teach each other lessons, and can survive family Drama..

Fun read

This book has a little bit of all the things I enjoy in a romance novel: funny enough to make me laugh at times, a bit inspirational, witty dialogue, nothing majorly depressing but not too sappy or too perfect of characters either... just a good book that makes me happy and let's my mind wander away from my world for a while.
