Historia
The country is eager for peace, but there is anger in Cromwell’s victorious army. The men who fought for Parliament paid in blood to defeat the Royalists and secure their rights, but in Cromwell’s England, rights are reserved for only certain Englishmen. As unrest sweeps through the army, Captain William Inness speaks up for his men, challenging Parliament to honor its promises. For this, he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit and faces the gallows. Where does a man run in Cromwell’s England to escape the hangman?

1450s France. A young Englishman, Tom Swan, is kneeling in the dirt, waiting to be killed by the French who have taken him captive. He's not a professional soldier. He's really a merchant and a scholar looking for remnants of ancient Greece and Rome - temples, graves, pottery, fabulous animals, unicorn horns. But he also has a real talent for ending up in the midst of violence when he didn't mean to.

Resumen del Editor
Roland Inness desperately needs meat for his starving family, but he takes the wrong deer on the wrong nobleman's land. Worse yet, he uses his longbow, a weapon outlawed and suppressed by the Norman overlords of England. Now they are coming for him. With one shot the 14 year old peasant boy is launched on a desperate flight that takes him from the mountains of Derbyshire to the wild frontier of Wales and on to the court of Richard the Lionheart. Along the way he is hunted by a paid killer, aided by a strange monk named Tuck, and taken in by a gruff Norman knight, who values his amazing skill with the bow. That skill and his courage are sorely tested as he fights to earn the trust of his new master. Longbow is the first novel in The Saga of Roland Inness. It is followed by Warbow, which takes Roland and his companions to the Holy Land on King Richard's Crusade, and The Broken Realm, which tells the story of his return to England to find a country in the midst of a civil war. The final book in the series, The Ransomed Crown puts Roland at the center of the struggle to save Richard's crown while he is imprisoned by the Holy Roman Emperor and his brother John seeks to usurp the throne.

Very well written
This was an enjoyable listen. There were enough twists to keep me thoroughly entertained, and they were balanced well by the author’s attention to character development.

Enjoyable
So far the book is entertaining and seemingly well written. I like the tone and tempo of the narrator, however his command of accents and presentation of alternative characters could use work. I am an avid listener and the best books have a narrator who can do different voices and characters convincingly.

A wonderful adventure story.
A fun adventure story in the similar style as Arthur Canon Doyle’s White Company and Sir Nigel. I enjoyed the entire series, I enjoyed it immensely while working in my garden and shooting my longbow.
