Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Resumen del Editor
Norway, AD 785. It began with the betrayal of a lord by a king....
King Gorm puts Jarl Harald's family to the sword but makes one fatal mistake - he fails to kill Harald's youngest son, Sigurd. His kin slain, his village seized and its people taken as slaves, Sigurd wonders if the gods have forsaken him. Hunted by powerful men, he is unsure who to trust, and yet he has a small band of loyal followers at his side.
With them - and with the help of the All-Father, Odin - he determines to make a king pay in blood for his treachery.
Using cunning and warcraft, Sigurd gathers together a fellowship of warriors - including his father's right-hand man, Olaf; Bram (whom men call Bear); Black Floki, who wields death with a blade; and the shield maiden Valgerd, who fears no man - and convinces them to follow him.
For whether Ódin is with him or not, Sigurd will have vengeance. And neither men nor gods had best stand in his way....
God of Vengeance is a must-listen for all who enjoy thrilling, action-packed fiction - from Bernard Cornwell to George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones.

The small island of Malaz and its city gave the great empire its name, but now it is little more than a sleepy, backwater port. Tonight, however, things are different. Tonight the city is on edge, a hive of hurried, sometimes violent activity; its citizens bustle about, barring doors, shuttering windows, avoiding any stranger's stare. Because tonight there is to be a convergence, the once-in-a-generation appearance of a Shadow Moon - an occasion that threatens the good people of Malaz with demon hounds and other, darker things....

Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Alexander's beauty, strength and defiance were apparent from birth, but his boyhood honed those gifts into the makings of a king. The first novel in Simon Scarrow's bestselling Roman series. It is 42 AD, and Quintus Licinius Cato has just arrived in Germany as a new recruit to the Second Legion, the toughest in the Roman army. If adjusting to the rigours of military life isn't difficult enough for the bookish young man, he also has to contend with the disgust of his colleagues when, because of his imperial connections, he is appointed a rank above them.

Great story, great narration.
Very common Norse storylines through the series, but some unique twists....Philip Stevens gives a good performance.

I couldn't stop listening to this one.
Amazingly detailed and very vivid. Can't recommend for the squeamish but fans of Cornwell will feel right at home with this one

Great Writing Style
The story line was fairly predictable, but the writing style was excellent. The author made excellent use of motifs, similes, and metaphors in a way that brought the scenes to life very vividly and in a natural, unforced manner.
I would recommend this novel to friends.

Should be a TV series.
Who's going to be first? History Channel®, HBO®, Stars®, BBC®, get your checkbooks out, pay Giles Kristen a billion dollars, and watch your ratings soar. Yeah, it's like that.
This book is Odin favoured / favored.

Fun book
Pretty OK book. Some factual inaccuracies, and the author has a thing for chopping people's hands off...like all the time hehe. But he got most name places right though.
Being from Norway myself, some of the narrator's pronounciations were, well, weird sounding.
But all in all enjoyable.

Viking usually equal a fun read, for me.
I didn't know how much I'd like Viking stories until I watched the History Channel's Vikings. I've been looking for a Viking/ Northmen storey, and I'm sure there's lots of material out there but this is what I found first. I really really enjoyed it. It is bloody if that kind of thing might bother you. I don't mind at all.
