Intriguing and very well written.

This isn't my usual genre, but I enjoyed it. The world building is good. The understanding of human nature is so accurate I feel like there should be trigger warnings attached. I liked the characters, both human and dinosaur. There's plenty of set up for the next book.

Sophia did a good job narrating. She really shines in the dialog sections.

Great story

This is a fun science fiction story that I actually learned some stuff from - for example that the Gaia observatory actually exists. Narration is great, voices for different characters make it easy to follow who's talking in the dialogue.

What a great book!

The story was unique and well written. The narration was superb. The use of vocal effects were on point and not over the top like in other books. Can't wait until part 2 comes out!

Great story. Very different

Dammit Walton. You should skip thanksgiving and Xmas break and finish book two!! I was given this as a promo providing I provide a review. This was outstanding both in writing and narration. Story was something different then I usually read but glad I did. Narration was done well. Highly recommend

Crazy In The Best Way Possible

The cover on this one, even being a Crichton and Jurassic Park fan at first, didn’t jump out at me, but then I realized it was written by one of my favorite working authors today, AND it contained a crazy dino-themed story that was so far out of left field I never saw it coming. I mentioned my all-time favorite author above, Crichton, for a good reason. I know that Walton mentions it in his blurbs and book descriptions, but honestly – Walton’s stories always contain the Crichton-esque writing, storytelling, and above all, realistic science weaved in with some “what ifs” to knock my socks off. I miss Crichton and couldn’t believe how far ahead of his time he was technologically. Walton did that in his other stories but took the Jurassic Park-like “what ifs” and turned them into one of the craziest (in a good way) stories I’ve ever read.

Living Memory, without giving too much away, is about stumbling across the find of a century, only to discover that it’s a find that would redefine how we looked back on dinosaur intelligence. I don’t want to go too far into it because this book has some insane twists and turns. The scenes that Walton writes where they “discover” what the substance they found with the remains does are some of the most interesting and out-there thinking I’ve come across in a story like this. And I absolutely loved it.

I thought that Sofia Rowley did a great job performing Living Memory. She was able to ‘become’ the characters without overacting. The performance added to the excellent storytelling that Walton already had and made it even more enjoyable.

Overall, Living Memory, without giving anything away, was a surprise from beginning to end. I thought the pacing, storytelling, and overall world and character builder were top-notch. A successor to Michael Crichton in every way.

For science and paleontology lovers

It’s hard to read this book. I feel like it’s anywhere between 3.5 and a four. I enjoyed reading it, but there was a lot less dinosaur action then I would’ve liked. The story really consist of paleontologist and scientist as well as some illegal smugglers. There is much talk about dinosaurs, but not many actual dinosaurs in the story. The end of the story just started getting good and then a cliffhanger!

Living Memory

I really enjoyed this pseudo scientific story of fossils and regime change. A team of mostly American Paleontologists have a week to leave Thailand due to the government being overthrown.Before that happens there is a murder and they are thrown in a cell. Narration by Sofia Rowley was very good. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

They returned

Wow this is shocking awesome… first I thought it was real dinosaurs but quickly figured out they illusions…still a frightening plot…. Can’t wait for the next book….

Any Jurrasic World fan will love this….

I gladly give this a 10 star rating…

A 2022 Criton/Jurassic Park-esque Treat

A well crafted, engaging, entertaining, scientific error-free, well performed audio book for anyone who like Jurassic Park. Paleontologists working in Thailand find paradigm shifting fossils of interest to many world powers. International worlds intrigue and scientific endeavors ensue. Great story!
