Fake Fiancés, Real Heat, and a Dash of Suspense!

Lie With Me brings us back to the Angels of Désirer series, this time following Tripp, Jackson’s best friend, and Valentina (Lenni), Ginny’s best friend. Tripp called off his engagement a year ago, while Lenni has fought hard to build a life after a deeply traumatic past. She works at Désirer as an Angel and carries the heavy responsibility of supporting her mother’s care, even as her mom continues to cause her pain.

Their worlds collide one night when Tripp spills coffee on Lenni and insists on buying her a new dress. That shopping trip leads to a chance encounter with his ex, and Lenni boldly steps in, claiming to be his fiancée. After an unforgettable (and very steamy) night together, she sneaks out before he wakes. Weeks later, Tripp needs her again to keep up the fake engagement story but when they reconnect at their best friends’ engagement party, they’re both shocked to discover they’ve been using fake names and already know one another.

From there, they agree to play along with their pretend relationship, but it quickly becomes clear that the chemistry between them is very real. The spice level is off the charts, their physical connection is undeniable from the start and it fuels a romance full of tension, vulnerability, and healing. Tripp falls first, determined to prove he’s all in, while Lenni struggles to lower her walls and trust. Their story balances emotional depth with sizzling heat, making it impossible to put down.

The audiobook narration is beautifully done. Shiloh James captures every layer of Lenni… her sass, her toughness, and the cracks in her armor. Caden Hart’s performance as Tripp is equally compelling, full of warmth and sincerity that make his devotion shine. Together, they bring this story to life with both raw emotion and fiery chemistry, making this a standout listen.

From the meet cute to the ending, I was so absorbed into Lenni & Tripp’s story.

This is definitely a VERY emotional read especially with Lenni’s past, but it is also HELLA SPICY. Tripp was SOO down bad for Lenni. 🤤

The audiobook was fantastic! Caden Hart & Shiloh James were an amazing duo and brought this story to life. Shiloh James did a great job portraying all the emotions Lenni went through throughout the story.

These two are so funny, Especially Lenni, her interactions with Tripp's mum had me laughing out loudy.
Its also a Hot and Steamy Listen.

Throughly enjoyed it. Both narrators are new to me and I have no hesitation in listening to anything they narrate

Emotional, beautiful, absolutely phenomenal!

D.L. Darby knows how to write an emotionally charged but extremely sensual story, and the way Shiloh James and Caden Hart narrated this story and brought Lenni and Tripp to life will steal your breath. They were absolutely phenomenal. This audiobook quickly became one of my favorites.

Lenni's childhood was traumatizing but provides important information to help the reader understand how she got to where she is with her emotional and physical mindset. Your heart will absolutely break for all she went through, but cheer for the woman she is now and all she endured and overcame to get there.

When they end up at a wedding of mutual friends, Tripp proposes a fake engagement to get his family off his back, but fake slowly becomes real and they are faced with individual and combined challenges.

The way Tripp fell for this woman and loved her healed my heart for her and all she had been through. The character and plot development was fantastic and so on par with what I've come to expect from D.L. Darby. The Pretty Woman vibes were perfect for this couple and their relationship. Lenni needed Tripp and all he gave to her to heal the parts of her that were broken. Tripp and Lenni prove that the love and support of the right person at the right time makes for a beautiful and healing relationship and HEA. Their passion, chemistry, and spicy time was off the charts and I ate it up like I was starved.

The plot twist...wow! The ending...wow! An amazing audiobook that I can listen to over and over and enjoy it like it's the first time, every time.

Pretty Woman Vibes 🩷

I devoured this audiobook.

It was funny, charming, and with the perfect amount of angst and suspense. I loved everything about this book, and all the references to Pretty Woman… chef’s kiss. Narrators Shiloh James and Caden Hart were both great and entertaining.
