She's his opposite in every way...and the greatest temptation he's ever known.

Reserved, controlled, and proper to a fault, Kai Young has neither the time nor inclination for chaos—and Isabella, with her purple hair and inappropriate jokes, is chaos personified.

With a crucial CEO vote looming and a media empire at stake, the billionaire heir can’t afford the distraction she brings.

Isabella is everything he shouldn’t want, but with every look and every touch, he’s tempted to break all his rules...and claim her as his own.

***

Bold, impulsive, and full of life, Isabella Valencia has never met a party she doesn’t like or a man she couldn’t charm...except for Kai Young.

It shouldn’t matter. He’s not her type—the man translates classics into Latin for fun, and his membership at the exclusive club where she bartends means he’s strictly off limits.

But she can’t deny that, beneath his cool exterior, is a man who could make her melt with just a touch.

No matter how hard they try, they can’t resist giving into their forbidden desires.

Even if it costs them everything.

King of Pride is a steamy opposites-attract forbidden billionaire romance. It's book two in the Kings of Sin series but can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Contains explicit content and profanity. Recommended for mature listeners only.

1st, no one may very well hold a candle to Dante Russo, who is just perfect as the King of Wrath esp with Jacob Morgan. With that said, this is like comparing apples to oranges. I like Kai's character and I love Isa even more just as I love Vivian, bravo to Emery for doing a great job narrating it. I also like how this book shows a clear line on status, & wealth especially for the families of Filipino and Chinese decent. If Isa wasn't born in the Valencia family, the author may very well be quoting Brontë instead of Austen with doomed relationships even if she is a talented writer. Speaking of which, I will never see Pride & Prejudice the same way ever again because of that 🌶 romp! Also, I do like how light hints of P&P are being carried out throughout the story. As for Kai, he has his own sexy charm & he's very 🥵 on those 2 spicy scenes, but he is such a polar opposite from Dante, I'm so fascinated how this friendship even works. The only unfortunate downside is the male narrator. Jacob Morgan was 🔥 as Kai on the 1st book, I wished he continued on. I'm sorry but David Lee Hyung sounded more like a twinky linguist that'll fit in a "Bartholomew Hamish Montgomery but you can call me Barty" skit from Oliver Oxford. His overly enunciated ve"rrrr"y & ku"rrrr"yous were irrritating and it was a bit hard to see him as a sexy over achieving soon to be CEO who has a penchant for boxing. The sensuality is lacking & the narration may be better suited for James Joseph or Shane East. David is prob perfectly fine with his occasional American accent for other books, but unfortunately, he missed the mark on this one. Also, If Jacob Morgan didn't narrate the 1st one or if I was unfamiliar with other Brit narrators, then maybe I wouldn't be too critical. Overall, the love story is beautiful but I think this book will have a much higher impact if I read it 1st.

Beautiful Love story with love of literature

I liked it. but I definitely thought it was pretty boring. Kai is definitely more tame than the other men Ana has written.

good but boring

While the voice wasn’t what I expected, I still loved it! I personally am glad that they went with different narrators than the last book, because it really helps build each character better, in my opinion.

Love!

I feel like there’s nothing that Ana Huang writes that I don’t love. I mean seriously, both main characters as well as all of the side characters not only in this book in particular are always top notch. Kai and Isabella were unbelievably cute and had such great banter with each other. The narrators for this book were so good! This is the first time I’ve ever listened to something that either of these narrators have narrated, and I hope to listen to more of the books that they work on in the future. They did such a great job bringing these characters to life. This book is fantastic on audio, and I highly recommend listening to it.

At first, I too was put off by the tone of Kai’s narrator and I agreed with many of the reviews stating David was too austere and proper because I was comparing him to Jacob Morgan; but fake? Really?

Have you never watched classic British productions? The more upper crust a character is the more severe and stuffy - or to your ears - “fake” they sound.

A comparison cannot be made without the outlier of who is hearing Kai’s voice. Jacob’s perfect voicing of Kai, being heard by everyone around him was perfect. Just as David’s voice was as Kai heard himself was perfect because he was Kai Young … And Kai Young MUST be PERFECT!

The story was brimming with hilarious dialog and beautifully painted emotions for the love, and the heartbreak of Isabella and Kai.

The next time you judge a narrator, please be cognizant of who in the story is hearing their voice as well as yourself. Also, they are human beings, and deliberately harsh criticism is much different than constructive criticism, which in my humble human experience, is harmful not helpful.

You won’t regret listening to this great story by the very eloquent wordsmith, Ana Huang!

I loved this story …
