What is going on with the narrator

I couldn’t finish....oh my goodness. The female narrator was not easy to listen to.

Alexa's voice was awful!

Loved the story of the book and the voice for Drake, but Alexa's voice was almost enough to make me stop listening.

Great!

This had me on edge since the beginning! Oh my Lord so much pain and suffering and heartache! But real love always have a way to come back to the right place! Great combination with characters and the story!

Unpredictable!

I read Intoxicated by You by Kristin Mayer a few weeks ago, and normally by this time, I’ve completely forgotten the book and have to go through it quickly again before I review. In this case, I remember it fairly well, because it was pretty unique!

Taking place in a small Alaskan town, Drake and Alexa were high school sweethearts who planned to marry. But Alexa received some information that changed her life, and she left Drake to pursue her dreams. Years later, she returned as a nurse to open a clinic in the small town with her best friend Hollis.

After they reunite and talk over what happened, they realized that her information may have been wrong, and someone was trying to sabotage them. But why?

"When things get tough, we hold on to this feeling. We fight like he!! to never lose it."

They got together pretty quickly, I wouldn’t have minded a bit more angst, but I loved how the couple united to find out the truth. They were so good together! There were no doubts about them. And Drake??? Swooooooon.

"And I will spend the rest of my life helping you achieve your dreams. Every one of them."
"I want to do that for you, too."
"You already have."

There wasn’t really any hot sex, and though sex isn’t really something my books need, I think it would have added a little of the passion between the couple. There is no doubt of the love, but I think a little bit of sex would have really shown us more of a connection.

"Even if you wanted to leave, I would spend every day of the rest of my life convincing you to choose me."

Intoxicated by You had all kinds of twists and turns and surprises that I never expected, and it kept me listening because I HAD to know the outcome!

Likes:
•Unexpected suspense!
•Twists and turns had me quickly turning pages.
•The small Alaskan town.
•I loved Hollis and want his story.
•I was surprised at the outcome.

Dislikes:
•I couldn’t listen out loud at home because of Alexa! (Not the author’s fault, nor does it affect my rating).
•Fade to black sex. I normally don’t mind this. I don’t really need sex in my books, and most of the time I don’t notice that a book had none until I try to give it a heat rating. But this felt missing.
•Not enough angst between the couple. There should have been some groveling on her part.

The Narration:
I received this book as an ARC, but when the audiobook came out, I switched over at 51% ($1.99 whispersync), and the narrators made it even better!

The Down & Dirty:
Intoxicated by You by Kristin Mayer wasn’t really anything I expected, and I was pleasantly surprised by the unique storyline and setting, as well as all the unexpected twists and turns. Totally unpredictable and pretty darn memorable, I loved the mystery storyline, but I also loved the second chance romance. I am really hoping to read Hollis’s book now!

Loved It

Excellent story and performance. The characters were well written and the plot was very good . Alexa and Drake a couple who was deceived into being parted after Alexa fathers death . After a couple years being of being. separated she moves back home to her hometown in Alaska to open a clinic her as a nurse and with a friend who was a doctor she and Drake find out how they were tricked apart and have to find they way back together as bad things were happening to Sabotage her and put her in danger. This story was sweet, sad, suspenseful, and entertaining. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it

great story

one of my new favorite authors, I loved the story and the narrators, especially Teddy 😍😍😍 Lots of bad comments about Savannah the female narrator, but I think she did a pretty good job! I love her books. She can get a little breathy and over dramatic, but over all I still give her 4* rating. Definitely worth the credit. The only thing I dont like is how the female lead takes shit from her terrible mom and sister, she comes across too weak. Similar to a Cinderella story. But good mystery and end result over all 5* from me! WTG Kristin 😍😍😍
