I watched Presumed Innocent before listening to remind me of the story line and the characters and recommend this approach for those whose memory of P.I. is fuzzy. Overall, a nice sequel. Thought provoking but not life changing. I agree with someone else who posted that Harrison Ford should star again when the movie comes out.

Satisfying

Presumed Innocent remains the best mystery I've ever read. I never figured out who the killer was until the last pages, and when I did, it all made sense. This book is not as spellbinding , but it works. And once again, you don't understand what really happened until the end. Its weakness for me was the severely flawed characters. I did not care for this Rusty Savage, though Molto was a pleasant surprise.

4.5 Stars for a Great Sequel

WOW! Loved this one. But for the best listening experience -- please read "Presumed Innocent" before you jump into this one. This book can stand alone, but Presumed Innocent features the same characters 20 years prior and the two books together are unbeatable!

Just when I thought the story was surely coming to and end and the case resolved, the story took another amazing turn that left me yearning for a 24/7 nonstop listening event. The courtroom daring of all concerned is masterfully plotted and narrated.

I am betting you won't quite see the end coming. . . even though I can't help but feel chagrined because "I should have seen it coming!" Great writing, great story telling.

This is Terrific Courtroom Drama!

Turow turned out another great story with an interesting plot. Characters were well developed and I could put myself in the story as I imagined the scenes. What people will do for revenge...or will they?

Gripping and twisty

Wonderful yet tragic story of the Savich family 20 years after Rusty's difficult acquital of the murder of Carolyn Polhemus. This novel strikes me as very cerebral; we get the chapters from various viewpoints and the teller's thoughts as the chapters unfold. I do think, though, that Mr Turow could do a better job in developing Rusty's character and helping us understand what drives him. As one example, we know he's one who doesn't show feelings and generally plays the cards he's dealt. Is there something in his background or childhood that we should know to help us understand him as he is today? Conversely, I thought he did an admirable job painting Rusty's son's character. This novel was lengthy but it left me wanting more. I'd highly recommend this work!

This one's a winner!
