Regi Harita was born to a mortal woman. At his birth, the world was silent, almost like it had taken a breath in respect of the birth of a new power.

The village seemed to prosper with the birth and grow as Regi also grew. But there were a few oddities about Regi that his parents noticed quickly. He would never get hurt; he did not show much emotion, and anything he did was done to extremes.

But after only a few years, his parents found that there was something that did spark the boy’s interest: food! His mom then started to make it her mission to make her little Regi smile.

It was the food that his mom made and the influence as he grew up that sent him on a journey across the world in search of new recipes and new food.

Regi Harita just wants to eat, but the world insists on getting in his way.

Story has good bones

The story is a somewhat different take on cultivation, and was on the while enjoyable. I personally like the idea of a hero that doesn’t spend the whole story getting kicked around until he makes a breakthrough at the end of the book that allows him to steamroll the big bad. I recommend this to anyone interested in this kind of story.

For me, the main detractors are the bad editing (consistent issues throughout, like subject-verb disagreements adjective/adverb inconsistency—maybe a translation error?) and worse virtual storyteller (the storyteller kept switching pronunciations of the main protagonist among a host of other irritations). I think some professional editing and a better AI storyteller would make this a much more enjoyable listen.

It was ok until interaction with women they were annoying at best especially the one that was paired with him at the end

I ran this st 90% speed and found that it greatly improved the narration. I would highly recommend this book.

Funny and well done

This was a great story I will definitely buy another book if they make another one in this series. the AI narrator was very well done and was surprised how well it matched the character. The squid ingredient was my favorite.
