Have you ever been told that you have a voice for acting? Being a voice actor or actress is very similar to being an actor, but there are some differences. When you are a voice actor, you act with your voice. Meaning, your emotions and fluctuations all are held within your voice as you speak and act your role or narrate a book. The wonderful news of being a voice actor is that you can do it in your very own home! You can audition from home, record from home, edit from home, and submit your recordings from home. Meaning, you can work in your pajamas and never have to leave the house to drive in traffic or go to a boring office! Those are just some of the rewards of voice acting. So, how do you start your own voice acting business? Everything is almost the same as starting any business. If you haven't had voice training, you need to brush up on your vocal skills; breathing exercises, keeping your voice clear, voice fluctuation, knowing where to pause, etc... You can even take voice acting classes if needed or you can look on the internet and see what books you can order to help you with your voice acting.

Insightful

As someone curious about entering the field of voice over and voice acting, I felt as though this was a good starting point. A broad spectrum of topics were covered which will allow the liatener to narrow in and research them independently for the finer details. It hit it's goal of being an introduction to the field.

Brief Information

The narrator did a nice job. It was pleasant to listen to. Not really a book, I would say the information is good for a podcast.

Basic

It was fine but very, very basic. I didn’t hear anything I didn’t already know. Probably best suited for someone who has done zero research & preparation for voice work. Narrator sounded a bit robotic, but clear.

Packed With Usefull information

I loved this book. Quick read, but very helpful. Great work-from-home opportunity as a voice actor. I didn't even know that was a thing!!!

Great Introduction to the Business

I enjoyed reading this book and took copious notes. I felt the information was easy to understand and comprehensible in terms of what how to get yourself prepared.

Not very helpful.

The narrator is wonderful. He made this book sound better than it actually is!!
The book itself doesn't contain much useful information. Sorry.

Pretty good, but...

... it struck me as odd that an audio book on how to be an audio book narrator was not narrated by the author himself. Seemed a bit odd. Otherwise, all the material presented was good.

Surprisingly informative for a beginner

Although this short booklet is not the comprehensive compendium of all things voice acting, it is a frank and informative tutorial for getting starting. It is presented in a straightforward manner with no filler.

On a funny note, there is a "scratch your head" moment at the end of the recording when you come to realize the author of the book is NOT the narrator. I found that to be an amusing aside to a nice listen.

Content seemed accurate but I didn't learn anything I already didn't know.
I learned more for free online. Disappointed that I paid for this.

It did not explain pricing

As a new voa I only wanted info about pricing and this didn’t explain anything. It was very very vague like a YouTube video
