Neal managed to survive the initial weeks after an EMP decimated the grid and all critical infrastructures. Using his cunning, skills, and mindset, he navigated the harsh new landscape. Life became harder when the weeks turned to months but still he survived. As he settled into his new normal, complacency set in with it. At first everything was fine, but then the deadly realities came to his doorstep. When tragedy struck all he wanted to do was give up, but a promise he had made kept him going, barely. Narrator or editing

I enjoyed the story. However, when sentences are getting run together it bugs me. In the audio the narrator would finish what a character was saying and start the next characters words without pause. Now I’m not sure if this is how he actually did it or how this was edited or how it came out on just mine but it was a bit annoying.
Other than that it wasn’t bad.

Hit and miss

I have to admit I knew the book length when I bought it. Still, why no more story then what we get? I obviously like it since I want more. The character development is excellent. A reader makes an informed decision about liking or hating the people in this book.

This is about average people and how they react to an apocalypse. They make a lot of mistakes - some that are fatal. The language is rough compared to other works by these authors.

Without a spoiler, the FEMA/military actions are bizarre. I expect an explanation in a future book.

Now the bad. The narrator seems to be immune to periods. Why waste time on breathing between sentences? Really, can't the producer hear the problems? How about some pace and inflection? It is tough to keep listening.

This is a good story and worth the time. But perhaps it is better in this case to go with the printed version.

slow and all over the place

follow several people who don't have a clue how to service. luck and more luck just isn't enough.

A story of real struggle

In the first half of the book I was slightly disappointed but it really got to me by the end. The thought that any government much less our government could be so cruel, or was it the Chinese 😡

Two great authors

This book is written by two great authors and the best of both of them come out in this story. It has some great issues that can arise and is great good for thought.

Delivers Much Needed Grim-Dark To The Series

Excellent writing, Narration was not worthy of the authors efforts. Its as though the narrator didnt want to be there, and just wanted to get it over with, as quickly as possible. As for the story; it delivers an excellent much needed grit, in which the characters suffer real losses, as opposed to the never ending good luck, and providence that is ever present for Morgan. This is the right direction, and tone for this kind of story telling. Just needs a narrator that at least pretends he wants to be there...
