Nineteen years have past since a nuclear world war wiped out the United States, leaving nothing but charred and ruined cities. Out of the ashes, small pockets of survivors banded together to forge new societies in the few areas not ravaged by the nuclear holocaust. One community has not only risen but thrived. Known as The Collective, they pride themselves on an orderly system of government with a functioning infrastructure. The citizenry owe their success to their founder The Number One, who presides over them with an iron fist. Life in The Collective centers on contribution and purpose. All are assigned responsibilities and if one cannot fulfill them, they are cast out. The most coveted but dangerous responsibility is that of a driver. Drivers ride the lonely and barren roads scavenging and exploring the outer reaches. Over the years only one has emerged as a legend, and his name is Driver 8.

juvenile comic book

I thought at first it might be a good story, wrong . So predictable and silly. I was glad when this cartoon ended. I am going to return it.

Promising...

Great storyline that has lots of potential for more exploration and world building. I do hope a book 2 is released and if it is, that Driver 8 gets more seat time behind the wheel and more of the wastelands and ruins of the past get explored by him. That's the premise that convinced me to drop a credit on this book, however there was very little driving and scavenging of the wastelands.

Thankfully not yet another EMP book

The genre has become saturated in EMP causation books. This book was different and enjoyable if for that alone .
I spent a solid half hour searching for the part II audio book and no joy .

Easy to read, fun, and a page turning experience. Driver 8 focuses your attention to a world of experiences and people whom bring the right thing at the right time.

get ready

great action. it touched on ALL my fears regarding the collapse of our Republic and the types of alliances and associations that may appear in it's absence. graphic depiction of human depravity that makes you realize how bad it could get!

Different Take On Post -Apocalyptic Novels.

Where does Driver 8 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was nice to get a different look at post-apocalyptic books. The story was good and characters are good. Looking forward to book 2 when it comes out.

What about Guy Williams’s performance did you like?

I have to be honest. It took me some time to get used to Guy Williams's performance. It was different than some of the others. By mid-book, he grew on me.

The Nukes of Hazzard

Great beginning to a new series ,Hopf blends realistic scenarios and vivid depictions of a redeveloping destroyed world,the systems people (choose) to live under and the evil that permeates the earth.Love the new characters and the possibilities for story lines.as usual top notch work.very entertaining,I am looking forward to Dead End.

Thrill Ride

Driver 8 was an action packed thrill ride from start to finish. Driving through post war America has you on the edge of your seat and at the end of volume 1 I was immediately looking for volume 2. Come on G. Michael please get writing! Thanks for the free book, I loved it!!
