Resumen del Editor

Whenever you say that you're "gifted", people automatically assume it simply means that you think you're smarter than anyone else, or just exceptionally smart. Although being very intelligent is a part of that "gifted" label we give some people, it's not the full truth. There is so much more to it.

Being gifted is a whole set of qualities, frustrations, traits, characteristics, and situations that accompany an intelligent mind. Being "gifted" sounds as if it is all beneficial, and to a degree, there is a lot you can do with that gift. But if you're really gifted, a certain number of challenges will come your way too. Here are some of those challenges you will listen about:

  • Other people may not understand the fast way you process information and lay connections between one thing and another. This can be frustrating.
  • Gifted people are often introverted, but being gifted is a certain push or drive that doesn't equal the exact same description of simply being an introvert. It's still different.
  • A high intelligence quotient has its pros and cons. Certain professions and puzzles can more easily be solved.
  • If you're gifted, you may be a big perfectionist, feel like you never do enough, and have a high energy that compels you to achieve more and get more done.
  • Gifted people don't always understand why other people don't think the same way, but surprisingly, they have a lot of empathy, unlike those in the autistic spectrum. They are sensitive to others' feelings and easily sense when something is going wrong.
  • A long focus, an inner motivation, and a self-regulating, independent work ethic are usually part of being gifted.
  • Gifted people analyze things to the core, which often helps them figure out things.
  • You might have a strong sense of justice, which can be really frustrating in a world where evil prevails in every corner.
  • If you're one of those people who cannot stop thinking and talks really fast when aligning his or her thoughts, this may be a sign of giftedness too. That fast thinking pace is a blessing when you are trying to make progress, but a curse if you're trying to sleep and your head is full of ideas.

These are only a few of the many topics discussed in this elaborate guide. There are examples, stories, and relatable explanations of what your brain might be like when you're gifted.

Overall, a good book

I could relate to the author, and that's what made it worth it to me. I sincerely believe he was not trying to be arrogant about his giftedness, even when he pointed out some of the things he was fast or smart at. I think it's hard to tell anyone about your intelligence, especially since people are so sensitive to being "smart." What I understood from the book too, though, is that there are some downsides with being gifted too, and that you have to learn to work with how your brain works to get the most out of life.

Different

Finally a book that is different from the standard ones. I actually recognized some of the characteristics in me, but not all of them. I think gifted isn't just intelligent but also unusually and highly motivated in that sense. Nice compilation and overview.

Insightful, well written, and straightforward!

Loved it! A motivational, self-help book for the gifted. Sometimes we are so busy reading about everything but ourselves and I really found myself in this book. Thank you for writing this, all the information I needed and more!

Gifted people

In the beginning, I was wondering where exactly it was going, but after listening to it for some time, I got into it. Then I saw this specific book for what it really was: A fantastic work by an intelligent writer and professional narrator.

Surprisingly interesting

They always talk about introverts. One thing the author said is that many gifted people are introverts, but that they are not exactly the same. And that made me wonder about the differences.

It's especially interesting, from this book, that it becomes clear that being gifted is not just about knowledge or even learning patterns, but that the IQ in your brain naturally gives you the inclination to take all aspects of life more seriously, and to take many factors into account when taking decisions. It's one of those things (fast thinking, a racing mind, etc.) that you don't typically think about in an intelligent person, nor do people stand still to think about the fact that they are mostly self-driven and hyper-focused on ideals they try to realize.

What also hit me, was that the book emphasized, more or less, that, opposed to autism, gifted people DO have a lot of empathy. So much, in fact, that they often feel like they have to save the whole world and feel disheartened by the misery of others to the extend that it overwhelms them.

Overall, a great listen from a wise, analytical author and a talented narrator. So yes, 5 stars, it is.

By the way, I think you should know that I wasn't forced or asked to write this review, but that I did get a code for a free copy from the author.

Wow

Simply, wow.

3 hours of telling me I never knew before. I was sincerely impressed. I mean, why don't they look more into this stuff as teachers and parents? Something to do with their ego? Like they can't take it if a kid has a high IQ or is somewhat exceptional?

I loved the narrator's voice and I loved the points the author brought up. It seemed from his vocabulary and his writing style itself that he was gifted in some form. He knew what he was talking about, and obviously, the research on this topic touched him to the point that he had to share it with others.

Good job, dude!

Nice

This was definitely different from what I was used to hearing about. Nice comparison between gifted people and introverts, and lots of good ideas. Maybe I'm a little gifted, just a little, not much.

Different

I thought this book was very different from the basic, trivial books about introverts. Being gifted seems to have its own hyperactive energy, with a steady push or drive that motivates someone to get the most out of life. I never looked at "gifted" as being more than just highly intelligent, but apparently, those people are also sensitive to emotion, and they have a constant goal in their minds.

I kind of know how it is if my brain doesn't stop. I could clearly relate to this well-explained book, and the author who wrote it. The voice of the narrator certainly was enjoyable, to say the least.

Being gifted is often misunderstood. I think many people do well getting this book and understanding what comes with a high intelligence, and why it can sometimes be frustrating because of a strong sense of justice or not being able to understand why others don't think the same way.

Not only was this book really well written by a good author but made me finally not feel so lost in life. It felt like someone was talking to me like they truly understood me as a person. So thank you this book was done perfectly!
