3.5 "Secrets" Stars

This was my first read (audiobook) by this author and I liked it. Forever Lies wasn't as dark as I was expecting for a mafia romance and took a little while to take flight plotwise, hence my rating. Otherwise, I enjoyed Alessia and Luca's relationship. Luca is dark and mysterious, holding secrets. He's so protective of Alessia, sometimes overbearing, nonetheless irresistible. The young woman is instantly intrigued by the man, but also cautious of the dominant aura he oozes. They have a certain chemistry that only evolves through the story into a deeper relationship involving steamy encounters. The narration of the audiobook was so great and kept me invested in the story. I'm intrigued about the next book, so hopefully I'll find some time soon to read Never Truth.

A sexy, suspenseful read!

I love a good mafia romance and this one did not disappoint. The narrator's did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. Luca is a bossy, protective alpha and I loved him from the very start. Alessia is strong and independent. Luca is relentless in his pursuit to win Alessia over despite how hard she may fight it. They have an instant chemistry and there's no stopping all the explosive sexual and emotional tension. There's lies, betrayal, and whopper of suspense that pulls you in like no other. I can't wait to see how all the issues play out in the upcoming book and hopefully, more books? Because you'll find out that its definitely not all resolved just yet...

Mafia Love

The Mafia portion of this story isn’t as much in the forefront as I’m used to, but I loved this story.

Finding out your family isn’t what you thought is shocking for anyone. Having to choose between the safe life you’re used to and the love of your life that makes you feel alive is a hard choice to make. I loved the chemistry between the 2 main characters. The suspense and thrill kept the story interesting. I very much enjoyed this story!

Loved this book! Loved this audio! Luca and Alessia were AMAZING! The chemistry was HOT. Luca was intense. Mackenzie narrated Alessia's character perfectly. I do wish I got more of Teddy because GAHD his voice. This was perfect and I cannot WAIT to listen to MORE from this author!!!!!! Couldnt have been any better than what it was. Pleasantly surprised :-)

Needed more

Liked some parts and struggled with others. I liked Luca, especially when he got all domineering with Alessia. Unfortunately he was too tame in that aspect. He acted like an alpha with his words but when it came down to it he was just not alpha enough. As for the mafia aspect I needed more of it. Too much time was spent on Alessia and her struggles with her boss. Also what happened with her friend that warned her? He just disappeared and in my opinion that was a missed opportunity. I really wanted to see how Luca would react to him. Overall 3 1/2 stars.

Narration was great! It is mostly narrated in the heroines POV.

A mafia book at it’s finest. Quite a few twists in this book that have you guess and yet it all blends in so perfectly with the rhythm of the story. Great book and great narration!

Turbulent or is it like a roller-coaster

The characters are wild. Never quiet for long. And when it quiet, you better look over your shoulder. Trust no one. This book had my stomach in knots. Whew! a nice amount of heat 🔥. Great Author and Acting🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Forever Lies

I am a go in blind kind of listener; all I need to know is romance and narrators.
This is a new author for me and I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. Boy did I get a story!

At first impression of Alessia I wasn’t all that keen on her, only because she didn’t stand up for herself with her boss or her father. But then this elevator encounter with the hot fella and she had a back bone. I was a little confused because then why couldn’t she stand up to her boss. I get he has seniority over her but she knew what he was doing was wrong. I guess I just didn’t understand that.

Oh Luca is delicious! His intensity leaps from the book you can’t help but be pulled in. I loved how he was, like a jungle cat. He knew what he wanted and he went after it. Even if Alessia had her hand up he would say or do something and she would melt.
Even though I wasn’t initially a fan of Alessia she did grow on me. I can appreciate that she does have hard limits and finally become the woman Lucas saw all along.
I can’t say I have read a lot of Mafia romance so I didn’t really see that coming (again going in blind) but I loved it.
I loved that he was dangerous and cunning but also protective.
A great story, fantastic narration I want more, I want to know if the sisters get their own stories. Especially the older one she intrigues me to no end.
