Lia has gone to London to do a semester at Oxford. She meets Jude at a pub one rainy night. She is as unaware that he is a fairly famous footballer in the UK, just as he is unaware of her family's US Football legacy.

By the time she realizes that she's pregnant, she hasn't seen him again in several weeks. That confession brings a little drama, but they start spending time together. All seems to be going well - except Jude has some familial baggage from his past that he's been ignoring.

I loved the emotional depth in these characters - which surprised me because Lia just didn't come across as that deep in the other books she's been in. No surprise, those books weren't about her. So this is a wonderful story and oh, such a tearjerker in the best way as you get to the last few chapters.


Meeting the Ward Sisters in their own books is an entirely different experience from having read about them in the Washington Wolves series. I'd recommend a small time gap between the Wolves and the sisters, just to give your brain time to allow the girls to all grow to adulthood.

Love the Ward sisters!

I enjoyed this book when it came out and I was excited for the audiobook. I was not disappointed. The narrators did a good job of bringing this cute story to life. Highly recommend!!

Good story, uneven narration

I enjoyed the story here; the Wards have such a great family dynamic and while Lia is probably the sibling I was least interested in, I loved the latest hero we have in Jude. He is dynamic and so compelling; I wanted to know more about him and felt that he truly showed character development over the course of the story. Lia got on my nerves at times, but she too did have a clear character arc. Karla Sorensen is adept at crafting interesting characters and I look forward to Isabel’s book!

My problem with this book came with the female narrator’s performance - Em Eldridge is just not a narrator I find particularly skilled or enjoyable to listen to. Her delivery lacks modulation and her tone is rather flat. She also narrated Molly’s story (Focused) and I had problems with her performance there, too. I tried to give her another go with this book, but she hasn’t improved. Her cadence just hits my ear wrong and I find it hard to let myself get wrapped up in the story in her chapters, which is frustrating; I constantly felt pulled out of the story during her chapters. So, I will be avoiding performances by her in future. Oliver Hunt was a new to me narrator and he was excellent as the male lead; his performance really added to my engagement with Jude as a character and is the only reason there are any stars for narration on this title.

Overall, it’s worth listening to this one, especially if you have been a faithful follower of the Ward siblings; HOWEVER, I would suggest borrowing it thru hoopla/your library or waiting for a really good deal on Audible.

Another Ward sister hit

Listening to and reading this series has had me laughing more than any other book series in a long time and has actually evoked tears. Maybe I’m turning mushy. Maybe it’s hormones. Maybe it’s Maybelline, who knows. All I know is that I love this series and this author. So glad I found her.

Problems

The story itself was good. The narration was not! The narration gets better as you go along but Em Eldridge is a stiff narrator.

Cute story

It was cute. The female narrator was robotic, so after a while she was difficult to listen to. Overall the story was cute and quite Lia-ish. Impetuous, spur of the moment Lia.

I loved the family bonding that is inherent in the Wards, and the continuing legacy of Logan’s and Paige’s relationship that built the loyalty and foster the love of the Ward family. Logan continues to be a doll. Paige continues to be fierce. That they were supportive in anticipation of Lia coming out was special, and in the end I think they just expected the unexpected from Lia. That’s how she rolls.

I loved Jude’s character. The story didn’t delve way too deeply into his family drama but knowing he worked to be a better person himself was a good storyline. And that he loved his little pineapple was sweet. He was willing to change his life and himself to find his happiness.

I enjoyed the story and am on to the next Forbidden and Is’s story.

was this a robot it's terrible!! sooo sooo bad! cant return SUCKS. Will never listened to this narrator again!

Great Book but read it instead due to female narrator being just awful

I loved immersing myself in the Ward Family world, and Leah’s story. Both Jude and Leah had an unexpected turn in their relationship but so glad they got their HEA. What a shame for the female narrator, she was unbearable (male narrator wasn’t too bad), sure hope the Karla Sorenson can request someone else for the the final Ward Sister book!!
