After Ian Moore steps in to save resident Playboy and vampire André Castor from a spiked drink, he expects life to go back to normal. Why, he doesn't know, but that assumption seems reasonable, right?
Only André doesn't want it to go back to normal. He's found a cute, trustworthy human, which is an anomaly in his world. Can't he just keep Ian?
Ian knows how this game ends, patiently waiting for the playboy to move on…so why is André proving him wrong?

I like the different tone. It's similar to (technically) the first book Fated Mates and Where to Find Them, with the serious down-to-earth human vs the vampire who wants to spoil them rotten and has no chill, but Andre has to immerse himself in Ian's world to gain his trust. Initially, it’s to get to know Ian but helping the orphanage where Ian once lived quickly becomes personal.
Ian’s an all-around great guy with a large heart who considers himself too ordinary to fit with the model perfect playboy from an immensely important family. Plus, as a bartender, he’s watched Andre live up to his reputation and thinks he’s just Andre’s latest fascination. I enjoy how their connection is deepened by their work at the orphanage.
That said, there a few distracting hiccups, such as vamps suddenly able to procreate biologically. This without answers to questions like when do the children stop aging? Like they hit 30 and the growth spurt stops? Also similar to Max and Zander’s story, there's a couple that Sherwood may retroactively write a book for which doesn't work as well here. Before, it was done seamlessly—just enough to inspire curiosity. Here, the couple is Andre's brother and his bf, and their backstory and Felix’s big personality take up a lot of page time for a novella. It’s so much info that a book wouldn’t be necessary aside from details. There's only one point that is relevant to Ian/the story so the rest sometimes feel disruptive. However, they are likable so their presence isn’t a hardship.
