Resumen del Editor

This is the fourth book of the Sue Lee Mystery series. It takes you deeper into murder and espionage during the final years of the World War Two.

Inside was a sheath with shell inlays, beautifully crafted, and very old. Sue Lee and Jimmy said at the same time, "The Kazaritachi sheath?" And looked at each other." Sue Lee spoke first. "Why are they separated, where is the sword?"

Engaging

Disclaimer: I received this book in a book promotion offer by the author. This in no way influenced my honest review of the book.

This is book four of the Sue Lee Mystery Series. It is now the final year of World War II and Sue Lee and Jimmy go to Hawaii to examine the contents of Uncle Yoho’s safe deposit box. They find the scabbard for the sword and a scroll by Yoshi telling some of the early history of the sword. The story goes back and forth between some of the key people in Sue Lee’s life. Dr. Jane decides to leave San Francisco and join the Royal Army Medical Corp and go to India, apparently there is a desperate need for medical doctors to treat the wounded from the campaign in Burma. Alex and other friends are on assignments of great risks to themselves.

As the book nears the end the author begins to bring to a conclusion some of the characters: for example Sue Lee receives a letter that Tomusso is married to another physician and working in Genoa after the War. Sue Lee leaves the Army after the World War II and takes over her Uncle Yoshi’s job with the shipping company she is a partner in. Sue Lee discovers the sword (I won’t tell you—read the book).

One has the feeling this is the end of the series but I understand there is one more book coming up in the series. The book is well written and the suspense builds and builds throughout the story. I enjoy the bits of history that are woven into the story. I find it most delightful to discover a little pearl of knowledge here and there. I am looking forward to the next book in the series as I have enjoyed this interesting series. Jeffrey L. Hering does a good job narrating the series.
