Acerca de esta escucha

#1 New York Times bestselling author Daniel Silva’s celebrated debut novel, The Unlikely Spy, is “A roller-coaster World War II adventure that conjures up memories of the best of Ken Follett and Frederick Forsyth” (The Orlando Sentinel).

“In wartime,” Winston Churchill wrote, “truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” For Britain’s counterintelligence operations, this meant finding the unlikeliest agent imaginable - a history professor named Alfred Vicary, handpicked by Churchill himself to expose a highly dangerous, but unknown, traitor. The Nazis, however, have also chosen an unlikely agent. Catherine Blake is the beautiful widow of a war hero, a hospital volunteer - and a Nazi spy under direct orders from Hitler: uncover the Allied plans for D-Day...

This story has an excellent plot revolving around counterintelligence operations during WWII. The character development is excellent. Also, the narration is superb - English accents, American accents, Scottish, Irish, German (and multiple voices of each) even an excellent Winston Churchill. The story has many characters and Michael Page makes each of them different and brings them to life. Highly recommended.

This is a good story. The characters are very well-developed. There are quite a few twists and surprises along the way. The action is nonstop. Thevonly reason for four stars is that The ending is a bit too quickly resolved and anti-climatic. Still a great story worth listening to.

Classic Spy Story

I really enjoyed this book. Narration was great! It was exciting and thoroughly engrossing. Mostly about the DDay planning and the difficulty of keeping the plans secret. My only complaint is that it was a bit hard to follow-there were so many characters and so much intrigue. German spies, American spies, British spies, and some turned German spies who were captured and now working for the British. Lots of names! The main characters, however, were very interesting and I got a sense of what war does to people who otherwise would not be in these positions. I really liked this book and could follow enough to understand the complicated plot- for the most part. I definitely recommend this book if you like intrigue and stories about WW11.

Spies everywhere!

Very few authors today can write a series of books with continuity with each other and at the same time each one can stand on its own without feeling lost. Great plots. Engrossing and entertainig.

Still the greatest mistery writer of our times

This story has intrigue, drama set against the backdrop of the impending D-Day invasion. The inclusion of real people & some of their actual actions added notes of realism to the story. I enjoyed Michael Page's narration. He gave each character a different voice. Some of the plot was a bit slow, but it was an excellent first book.

good ww2 spy story

Silva should do more of these. It ends fast like some of the Jack Higgins books but it's fine.
Most of the story was really well written and told. Narrator was very good. It feels like an old fashioned book that could be made in to a 1940s movie. Really liked it!

Fun WWII spy story that ranks with the best.

I've listened to all of the Allon books and finally had the pleasure of listening to this one. I find it to be the best of all Silva's books, a real "spy thriller" and more sophisticated, more complicated and less preachy. I'll add more thoughts later after thinking it over a bit.

The best of Silva's books

Silva's interplay of real-world history and realistic spycraft delivers. The narrator did a great job as well.
