What a great story!

I read this book years ago when it was named "Island of Saints". I enjoyed it then and bought several copies to give as gifts. I downloaded it on Audible this time and was delighted that Andy Andrews, himself, was the reader. I loved it even more and realized I had actually forgotten so much from my previous reading. The book is wholesome and dear and makes me long for a simpler time in our history. The plot is interesting and the characters were great and full of personality. I will continue to buy this book as gifts. We all need to understand the principle of forgiveness and this book teaches it in a practical non-preachy manner.

Surprisingly wonderful

When I first started listening I was tempted to quit but I am very glad I didn’t. This is one of the most enjoyable books I have ever listened to. The narrator (also the author) did a wonderful job with the accents and made the characters seem alive and visual. I recommend this book to all.

Loved everything from the story, the narrator, the biblical and life lesson to the truths at the end. Will reccome d it anytime to anyone.

Riveting!!!

What a great story! I really enjoy Andy's style of writing and found this to be his best book! The background given and the where are they now sections add depth to an incredible time in our history and the lives of those who lived them!

Mesmerizing book

This talked about an aspect of WW2 that I wasn't aware of: uboats in the Gulf of Mexico. It put a face on a very not well known part of the war. The story was fascinating and told very well.

WWII Adventure in Redemption

I loved this book. Knowing it’s a true story adds to its impact. I wasn’t aware that there were German submarines off the American coasts during WWII. This book is about one of those ships in the Gulf of Mexico off Alabama’s shore. It’s about loss, second chances, forgiveness, and friendship.

I heartily recommend The Heart Mender. Our book club listened to the Audible version, read by the author. Some of his accents weren’t really good, but his gift as a storyteller more than made up for it.

Don't miss this one! I couldn't put it down until I finished it. This should be a movie! Ten stars is what it really deserves.

Heart Mender is in my top ten list , and it is one that I recommend to everyone who reads and enjoys historical fiction. The theme of forgiveness is beautifully woven into the story and forgiveness can change a life for generations to come. This book was interesting, thought provoking, and inspiring!
