Resumen del Editor

Wounded and alone, Alana has escaped the clutches of the Tsar. She’s determined to forget his world of conquest and dark magic, but fate has other plans. Alana finds herself face-to-face with her grandmother - the one person she loathes even more than the Tsar himself. With his forces closing in, the two must choose whether to tear each other apart, or work together to defy their common enemy.

Meanwhile, Devon stumbles upon Alana’s brother lost in the forest. Taking the boy under his wing, he learns the Tsar needs both siblings to accomplish his grand ambition: to control all magic. Devon is soon forced to make a stand, but can a mortal warrior truly defy the eternal strength of the Tsar?

Great Read, Graet Series

Dawn of War, my eighth read/listen from author Aaron Hodges picks up where the second book in the series left off. Attention-grabbing, enjoyable page-turning read, the epic conclusion to the Legend of The Gods Trilogy. Narrator David Stifel’s narration adds to the book's enjoyment. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Excellent story and great audible performance!

This is the epic conclusion to the Legend of the Gods series! It’s full of action as events lead toward the final battle against the Tsar. Devon and Braidon trek through the forest toward Trola as Alana learns to settle her differences with Enala. In the meantime, Queen Merydith and the Northlanders are determined to put an end to the Tsar’s reign of terror. The characters have grown so much over the last couple books, and they really branch out in this final volume! Braidon starts to come into his own and learns to fend for himself, Alana struggles to reconcile her two selves, and Devon has to decide if he can overcome his sins of the past. You learn more about the past and how the Tsar came to be so evil and as the story progresses all my questions were answered and the sub plots concluded. The end is satisfying but bittersweet, but I won’t say more than that. In amongst the action, there are some deep thoughts on whether war is ever necessary and on the meaning of family which add an extra layer to the story. As usual the world building is excellent and I always enjoy learning more about the land of The Three Nations! Overall this is an excellent read, and I highly recommend it!

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I loved the narrator! He does an excellent job and he really suited the story!

The end of an epic fantasy series

Dawn of War is the third and final book of an epic fantasy series. I started with this book, but I have since read the other books in the series, because I became thoroughly involved in the story and left it wanting more.

I had to play catch up a bit in the beginning of this book, so I'd recommend starting at the beginning of the series instead, if possible. The book contains violence and some mild sexual situations, but no actual sex. I'd say teens or older.

The narrator does a very good job bringing the book to life.

Awesome Fantasy Adventure

This is a great series, although I haven't got to listen to the first 2 books yet... I like the fantasy elements of magic, magical weapons, and the human element... who out there cant relate to a brother, sister, and family fights and arguments with a parent?

Amazing Series -- One Not To Be Missed

Dawn of War is Book 3 in the Legend of the Gods series. We say farewell to this excellent series with strong well-developed characters and world-building. This was an attention getting, page turning adventure with lots of action, twists/turns, and a heart-breaking ending. It is quite sad as we know there are casualties in war and not all survive. The narrator, David Stifel, brought the story and characters to life so you were able to relate to them and feel their emotions. I highly recommend this series. I know you will not regret picking it up. Received this audio book for free and this is my voluntary and honest review.

a fight within the work of magic

The third book of this trilogy answers a lot of questions. I would not have guessed the way things come about. Yet it is satisfying end. I cared about the main characters and the plot made me listen more, eager to learn more of what was happening .

Great conclusion to an excellent fantasy trilogy

This concludes Aaron Hodges Legend of the Gods trilogy. When it started I enjoyed the relatively small scope the author seemed to have in mind, and yet as the trilogy has proceeded Hodges' vision has unfolded to be quite epic. This last book was quite a ride, picking up pretty quickly and keeping the pace unrelenting until the end. It is a brutally straight-forward narrative, with the antagonist using his powers to the fullest to reach his ends. I never had a moment where I thought "Oh, if only he had done this thing-which-makes-complete-sense he'd have destroyed them..." The plot and characters were well-thought-out and felt sensible and accessible.

As for the narration, David Stifel did an excellent job. I didn't really notice any variation or difference between his performance here and his performance in the previous two books - if you enjoyed those, you'll enjoy this.

As a conclusion to a trilogy, I thought Hodges wrapped up everything he set out in the previous two books. I would recommend reading them first rather than just jumping in on this story. Some of the story arcs and character development can not truly be appreciated without walking through the story. That said, it's a well-written book and quite enjoyable.
