Poor sound quality and abridged version

The sound quality on book 3 of this series returned to the poor quality. Also, I missed much of what was cut out of this abridged version of the story. My boyfriend, who had not read the story prior to listening, seemed to find that the series would 'jump' from one scene to another, distracting him from the story. I hope that Audible will eventually remake the series into an unabridged version with better quality... I'll definitely buy that!

Outstanding series and finale

If you enjoy science fiction, I find Anne McCaffrey thoroughly enjoying. Another is the Pern series of dragon books, which I forget how many books are in that series. It covers centuries of that world's development, if I remember correctly. I been a couple of decades since I read them. Enjoy.

Abridged sadly-- HORRIBLE SOUND

This series is one of my favorite ones. I've been reading it over and over again for over 20 years... so was thrilled to see it on audible, and then very sad to discover it's abridged. All the major story points are there, but all the lovely details have been removed. The narrator talks FASTER than pretty much every other narrator on audible, but once I got used to it I realized it was at the same speed I read, and as a result I found it easier to drop into that film in your head sensation I get from reading that is usually missing on audible. That said, the SOUND quality on this recording borders on unbearable... there's like a scratchiness to it, it's embarrassing

I love the set of books! I own them all! I am disappointed that the entire book was not read on this Audible. too much of the book was missing.

Great Story, Not So Great Audio.

The story was fantastic and is actually one I have enjoyed before in text. Unfortunately, the recording of Ms. Barbeau had an old time radio/scratchy quality to it and was sometimes much more frustrating to listen to than to actually stop and read the book itself. Her performance was fantastic but the recording quality was terrible.

Great story & performance, subpar audio?

Books one and three in this series were oddly fuzzed and distorted, especially when compared with book two. I am not sure what went wrong with the files, and will be contacting Audible.

The story is a challenging, heart-wrenching, healing and beautiful finish for the series. The performance was quite good but for a handful of pronunciation and consistency items fairly easily ignored. The modulation and emotive variations were wonderfully done. Satisfying but for the audio quality of the file.

Could read or listen to our over & over!

I read this whole series and many others by Anne McCaffrey multiple times. Have read them all over again and prodded will soon!

unabridged version needed.

These are great stories. Absolutely a wonderful series, but I would love to have the unabridged version of them.

the reading is terrible

it sounds like the recording was done over the telephone. it's horrible and pitchy. if you love Anne McCaffrey books endure
