Resumen del Editor

A dark past casts a deep shadow.

Evan Warlow is back in the saddle as a DCI, though he isn’t yet sure he deserves to be, and there are others who share his doubts.

When a brutal attack on two mountain bikers in the vast solitude of the Brechfa forest leaves one dead and the other badly injured, the hunt is on for the killer. And though the evidence points firmly in one direction, an open and shut case soon becomes murky and unclear.

It’s not the first time bad things have happened in these woods. Things that some have tried desperately to forget. But for the killer, it’s more a matter of unfinished business.

Unless Evan and the team can outwit a vengeful and clever murderer, someone else is going to die.

Caution Death At Work is the second book in the DCI Warlow series of fast-paced Black Beacons thrillers by Rhys Dylan. Set in the heart of wild Wales, this dark murder mystery populated by true to life characters will keep you guessing. Perfect for fans of LJ Ross, JD Kirk, JM Dalgliesh, and Simon McCleave. Celtic noir with a smidgen of dark humor.

Surprisingly Predictable

From chapter one I knew who did it…and I haven’t even finished it but that’s how certain I am. A shame…because in these 2 books I’ve grown fond of the characters. Also- Joseph Tweedale started out a bit bland in Book 1, but I’m really enjoying him now.

Good story

I enjoy “across the pond” detective mysteries. The main characters are interesting & easy to get to know.Easy to follow storylines & pleasant narration.

An excellent British procedural

I am enjoying this series, and am looking forward to reading more in the series.

This book is definitely better than the first

I almost always try to give a series at least two books to get in it's groove. I almost didn't with this one because I didn't like the first book at all. I didn't like the writing style and the story just fell flat. This book seems almost to be written by a different author. The writing formula was way more like a regular police procedural and the character development was much better. I'm not sure why the author is being cagey about whatever the MC's medical condition is however as it is not adding anything to the story line.

The narration is good and like Tweedale's voice.

Not bad

I enjoyed this. It was a good, entertaining story and the narration was good. I would never have come close to pronouncing the Welsh names and words. I look forward to Book 3.

Great narrator, great enough story

I guessed the whodunit aspect early on but found I didn’t mind. I was thoroughly enjoying the characters and writing. I will definitely continue this series.

A Very Poor Plot

The writing is good, characterizations adequate, performance Very good...but that doesn't make up for one of the most ridiculous and poorly planned plots I've seen in print. It's...just weird 🤷‍♀️
