Art restorer and legendary spy Gabriel Allon must solve the perfect crime in the dazzling new tale of murder, greed, and corruption from #1 New York Times bestselling novelist Daniel Silva.

"Daniel Silva spins a yarn better than any living author and I appreciated the chance to disappear into a great book, if only for a single night (there is no stopping a Silva book once I've begun)." —Todd Wilkins, Best Thriller Books

Sometimes the only way to recover a stolen masterpiece is to steal it back . . .

Gabriel Allon has been awarded a commission to restore one of the most important paintings in Venice. But when he discovers the body of a mysterious woman floating in the waters of the Venetian Lagoon, he finds himself in a desperate race to recover a lost masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci.

The painting, a portrait of a beautiful young girl, has been gathering dust in a storeroom at the Vatican Museums for more than a century, misattributed and hidden beneath a worthless picture by an unknown artist. Because no one knows that the Leonardo is there, no one notices when it disappears one night during a suspicious power outage. No one but the ruthless mobsters and moneymen behind the theft -- and the mysterious woman whom Gabriel found in a watery grave in Venice. A woman without a name. A woman without a face.

The action moves at breakneck speed from the galleries and auction houses of London to an enclave of unimaginable wealth on the French Riviera -- and, finally, to a shocking climax in St. Peter's Square, where the life of a pope hangs in the balance. An elegant and stylish journey through the dark side of the art world and the Vatican's murky finances, An Inside Job proves once again that Daniel Silva is the reigning master of international intrigue and suspense.

Daniel Silva once again left me intrigued to the very end. He also veers away from the Middle East and focuses his tale mostly in the Italian region.

The Vatican and beyond.

Loved the story, but especially the skill used in bringing in all the former characters. This was a beautifully written story.

What a reunion!

These are great novels with outstanding plots, characters and narration! Gabriel Allen is the greatest protagonist of all time!

Beautiful and Entertaining Plot

It’s okay. Simply not the level of intrigue of the earlier work. It’s a little self-indulgent. Like a lot of prolific novelists, we start to see a lot of projecting instead of reflecting society of the time. I hope he doesn’t get as bad as James Lee Burke.

A bridge too far even for Eduardo Ballerini

Look forward every year to the story continuing. Would love this to be made into a series!

Eduardo Ballerini is a wonderful narrator!

I do not usually do this. But, this was well done from the top down and the change of voice actors was very nice. Well paced and well researched.

The narration was very nice…

I have always loved Daniel Silva's writing, and his protagonist Gabriel Allon. The cherry on top is when Eduardo Ballerini is the narrator! The stories come alive and the different characters stand out. I found myself travellings with him all over Europe. Bravo!

the History of Corruption in the Vatican

Well written. Well performed. Interesting depiction of the Vatican and the art world. Fans of Gabriel will not be disappointed!

Another Great Story!

This book ends too quickly. The humor and wit of the Allon family makes me laugh out loud too often. You’ll find yourself listening to it again, almost immediately, to relive being in the story with Gabriel and his family and the London art dealers in the lulling voice of Eduardo Ballerini.

The wonderful Silva/Allon family humor and the enchanting Eduardo Ballerini
