Acerca de esta escucha

• Shares the author’s personal journey to heal his severe childhood trauma as well as his breakthroughs on the path to create Somatic Experiencing

• Explores how he came to view Einstein as his personal spirit guide and mentor, only to discover a profound real-life connection to him through his mother

• Explains how the SE method is derived from the author’s studies of animals in their natural environments, neurobiology, and 50 years of clinical observations

In this intimate memoir, renowned developer of Somatic Experiencing, Peter A. Levine—the man who changed the way psychologists, doctors, and healers understand and treat the wounds of trauma and abuse—shares his personal journey to heal his own severe childhood trauma and offers profound insights into the evolution of his innovative healing method.

Casting himself as a modern-day Chiron, the wounded healer of Greek mythology, Levine describes, in graphic detail, the violence of his childhood juxtaposed with specific happy memories and how being guided through Somatic Experiencing (SE) allowed him to illuminate and untangle his traumatic wounds. He also shares the mysterious and unexpected dreams and visions that have guided him through his life’s work, including his dreamlike visitations from Albert Einstein, whom he views as his personal spirit guide and mentor.

Explaining how he helped thousands of others before resolving his own trauma, he details how the SE method is derived from his studies of wild animals in their natural environments, neurobiology, and more than 50 years of clinical observations. Levine teaches us that anyone suffering from trauma has a valuable story to tell, and that by telling our stories, we can catalyze the return of hope, dignity, and wholeness.

There’s a lot to like about this book. One of my main takeaways is that the journey of recovery never ends. As long as we’re alive, they’ll be work to do in body, mind and spirit.

Courageous. Insightful.

A great reflection

Peter Levine continues his exploration of trauma's profound impact on the human mind and body. While his insights and research are invaluable, the narrator of the book fails to deliver the sensitive content in an appropriate tone, diminishing the gravity of such traumatic experiences described. Despite this, Levine's work remains a crucial resource for understanding and addressing trauma, offering deep scientific knowledge and practical applications. However, readers should be prepared for the intense nature of the material, which is conveyed with meticulous detail and should be approached with care.

Painful accounts of trauma told in the wrong tone.

An excellent book, with many wonderful insights and perspectives. However, the narrator seemed to be unfamiliar with some concepts and pronunciations. I wish the author would narrate.

reveals aspects of Levine's life that were not broadly known, including some spiritual and mystical aspects. Unfortunately the reader was totally wrong in voice, style and affect for the material.

new insights on Levine's life and work.

Great drinking game to listen to and drink everytime Peter says something delusional or narcissistic. you will be drunk before you get through the first chapter. If anything he speaks of is grounded in reality it might be that Peter is bat s#$% crazy and comes from a family that was equally so. So painful and disturbing to listen to this natcissistic delusional drivel. Peter want you to see him as an enlightened visionary channeling ancient Celtic and Tibetan wisdom despite him stealing from his mentors most of the ideas he supposedly channelled from Einstein or the celts.

tales of a delusionsl narcissist who had dreams
