Fans of Jane Austen have fallen in love with Darcie Wilde's mystery series featuring Rosalind Thorne, a young woman adept at helping ladies of the ton navigate the darker corners of Regency England - while revealing Society's most shocking secrets....

Rosalind is pleased when she's invited to Cassel House to help her friend Louisa prepare for her upcoming wedding. But that's not the only event on her agenda. The trip will also afford Rosalind the chance to see Devon Winterbourne, the newly minted duke of Casselmaine. Devon and Rosalind were on the verge of betrothal before the infamous Thorne family scandal derailed their courtship. Now Rosalind wonders if there's a chance their love might reignite.

Devon is as handsome as Rosalind remembers and it's clear the attraction they once shared hasn't waned. But their time together is interrupted by one crisis after another - not the least of which is an awkwardly timed request for help from Louisa's friend, Helen Corbyn.

Not long ago, the untimely death of Helen's brother, William, was ruled a suicide, but few people truly believe he took his own life. Helen needs to know what really happened - especially since she's engaged to the man some suspect of secretly killing William.

While Rosalind desperately wants to help, she fears her efforts might cast a pall over Louisa's nuptials, not to mention her reunion with Devon. But when another untimely death rocks the ton, Rosalind has no choice but to uncover the truth before more people die...even if her actions threaten her future with Devon.

I read quite a few reviews about the narrator being too old or not being as good as the others. I completely disagree and I’m glad I gave it a chance anyway. She was excellent, and when she needed to sound young, she did. Her accents and tone were great. Don’t let those reviews about the performance keep you from listening to this installment if you have enjoyed the others so far.

Still loving this series

I seem to disagree with many. I love the narrator and was used to the change after the first chapter. She’s amazing. I love the story and it is as I would expect to enjoy after the previous books in this series.

Love love love!

Great story. Awful narrerator. Please get the old one from the previous books back. The voice is WAY too old for Rosiland. Almost painful to listen to

I’ve really enjoyed this series, but this switch in narrator was not great. I had a hard time following the story in parts due to the narration. Not the best installment, and I thought it rushed through the love triangle, given how slow and unsure things had moved previously. Nevertheless, I will look for the next installment.

New narrator detracted

It took me a while to get used to the narrator, but I ended up thinking she did a much, much better job than the ladies who narrated all the previous books. Story is a bit complicated and convoluted at times. Overall, it is a great book and I am so excited for the next installment!

Love!

i really enjoyed this book. well written and definitely unexpected mystery. It was a little strange that they changed the reader, but I actually have thought that she did a great job, better at doing different voices and accents. you'll get used to it if you're a fan of Rosalind!

enjoyed!

Bring back Pearl Hewitt! If you hadn't heard the other stories in this series, I suppose the narration of this one wouldn't seem off, but it sure does to me. Both of Rosalind's male concerns sound exactly the same. In fact, all the men's voices are strained and forced. I desperately miss the clear and talented rendition of the first three novels. While the narrator never stumbled or made herself overtly obvious, this muddied reading took a great deal of the pleasure out of listening to the book.

narration not up to parr

Ms Wilde's mastery of characters and compelling story keep one glued from beginning to end. I read a lot of British cozies and find I enjoy Ms Wilde's the most. Looking forward to reading more from her.

Exceptional writing

I didn’t enjoy this one as
Much as the others but I will continue on to find out what happens next.

Not the best in the series

The beginning seems to drag out before the story became totally engrossing. It’s worth continuing to get to this captivating story.

Slow start, but worth reading through
