Many people claim they would rather be diagnosed with cancer than dementia or Alzheimer's. What they may not realize is that decreased or impaired brain function is not a foregone conclusion as we get older. Our own lifestyle choices and habits can have a significant impact - for good or ill - on our brains. And that means there's hope.

Drawing from the latest medical research, Dr. Richard Furman helps listeners understand brain health and shows them how to make three powerful lifestyle changes that can help decrease the probability of developing dementia or Alzheimer's. He explains how eating the right foods, exercising, and sustaining an ideal weight can dramatically reduce the likelihood of developing brain disorders in the first place, and even how those habits can slow the progression of dementia in someone who has already received a diagnosis.

Great book to listen to. The author not only provides a science based knowledge but is a good writer and gets his point across as one follows a life story of his in-laws. I wish the author touched base on a variety of diets that emerged in the 90s. I read several sources which stated saturated fat and dietary cholesterol do not have impact on blood cholesterol levels. The author’s point of view varies on this issue. I would have liked to see a bit more explanation on different points of view as far as diet goes. Nevertheless, this book provides valuable information and was an enjoyable one to listen to. The narrator did an exceptional job as well.

Great book

I happen to adhere to a lot of these principles due to previous life choices. The research summaries are compelling. In my family we have witnessed this first hand through hospice. It stays with you daily.

Great narrator
