Would YOU love a monster girl?

Andrew hunts monsters as a member of the Non-Human Investigative Corps, and he's very good at his job. Unfortunately, the skills he honed to keep the peace aren't much use in the cutthroat world of city politics, and a recent civil ruling is forcing the integration of the once exclusively human NHIC!

Velise is a beautiful arachne noble sent to the human-ruled city of Daytau as part of a diplomatic boondoggle to prove her political skills to her matriarch. A chance encounter with Andrew leaves her wanting to know more, and the integration gives her an opportunity both to sate her curiosity and advance her ambitions.

Yet the barroom brawl Andrew diffused for her sake was no accident, and city hall would love nothing more than to end his career. Forced by circumstance both to protect and rely on a monster, Andrew comes to an uncomfortable realization.

Velise might just be everything he ever wanted in a woman....

The book was good. I would rather it happened on Celestine thou. So much went in to building that world. It is tough to get used to a new one.
I liked the characters and the plot. Book was an easy 4 star. Minus one star for no Celestine.

But this Is EXACTLY what you will want
It’s a cat and mouse kind of story which I just fell in love with
I’m about halfway through and there is no random or uncomfortable s@& scenes
Real work put in this and it shows
Can’t wait to see more

The book/series is seriously some of the best writing in this genre. The characters are borderline real for how well they are crafted. The world building is intriguing. The conflict always has you engaged and the narration is very good.

If you are even close to on the fence about whether or not to give this series a listen/read. Do it. You will not be disappointed

I honestly forget the genre of Cebelius's books when I listen to them.
Both his writing and the voice actors performance draw me into the story so much that I want to know more about the big picture. I want to see the characters achieve what they want, and see the story cum to a conclusion (wink). Nothing feels contrived or forced. The story is well paced. honestly, this review can be used for any of Cebelius's work.

A cute, fun little romance. This story is a self-contained story of love, but is also the start to a larger series, laying down the beginnings of some larger plot threads. I'm just not into the malesub/male bondage parts.

I was introduced to this author in mask of the template. I thought it was really good, but I'm not a fan of the harem genre. now I come to find out Cebelius wrote a series featuring monogamous couples. it's official. I'm a fan and going to keep up with this aurthor

I'm really impressed with the depth Cebelius shows us with this new series. It's a bit of a departure from the other books I've read from him. Really great world and character building with a narrowed focus on a single couple instead of going harem. IMO this is his best work to date. As always Chris and Jess just make things better!

this is a great book. The narrators were on point. it kind of felt like a slow burn but it was worth it. definitely a breath of fresh air from all the other monster harem books I've been listening to lately. after listening to the book, I definitely wanted more adventures with the main characters in this book, but it looks like the second book follows different characters, but it looks like it's set in the same universe so hopefully it'll be just has entertaining

I would definitely recommend this book to people who like a more natural build up of affection with a fantasy type women, and to those who like a little more intelectual engaging type story, there could be a little more action involved but I’m thinking the author will add more in the next book considering everything else is gradual which is not bad by the way, it’s definitely worth purchasing.
