The exciting, titillating, and action-filled conclusion to Captive in the Dark.

What is the price of redemption?

Rescued from sexual slavery by a mysterious Pakistani officer, Caleb carries the weight of a debt that must be paid in blood.

The road has been long and fraught with uncertainty, but for Caleb and Livvie, it's all coming to an end.

It was very difficult for me to get through. I became bored and I actually began skipping sections at the end just so I would know how it ended. The 1st book was much better.

Not my cup of tea...

I'm giving this a 3 becuase I just cant decide if I loved or hated this book. I hurried out after reading the first book and used my credit on this and while I dont regret that, I also dont feel that this duet contributed greatly to my literary prowess. I loved the plot line of the story and when I think back on it the execution wasnt done poorly at all, I think I was just hoping the book would take a different turn so I guess I'm disappointed on that front. The time jumps going past to present constantly was distracting, I honestly dont see the point of the whole thing with Agent Reed except to fill the story, but I feel it should have been filled with day to day of livvy and caleb in the mansion instead of jumping weeks at a time, maybe I'm sick or depraved but I read a book for a reason and listening to the main character flirt with a new random character for half the book was not why I started this series. The one thing that moved this from a solid 4 to a 3 was actually the opposite of what I loved about the first book. while I loved Livvy and Caleb in book one, they both annoyed the crap out of me in this book. Let me say, I know I would be a mess if I was in her shoes, but up till the very last scene I was ready to scream if she started blubbering in tears one more time, her survival instinct was just non existent, crumbling to tears everytime he looks at you or says one word in that type of situation is just asking to get abused or killed. Then you have Caleb, who throws nasty threats every 2 seconds but never follows through and wonders why she doesnt fear him? Him I domt blame too much, his story was seriously messed up, but I was definitely getting annoyed with the repetitive game they played for the majority of the book. despite all this the book kept me entertained and fascinated so its not a waste!!

cant decide how I feel about this one!

Any additional comments?

I don’t view this as a BDSM book. This isn’t BDSM as we usually see it in books, this is real life BDSM. Its not a game, its not a lifestyle, not a choice, this is LIVING in it. Its raw, gritty reality. There is no safe word, no consent, no out. The main purpose isn’t getting off, the purpose is training.
Never before have I been so emotionally conflicted while reading a book. The author presents a hundred and one legit reasons to hate Caleb, and then, while you're least expecting it, sneaks in surprising shimmers of Caleb's 'human' side causing you to question your stance entirely.

This book stripped my emotions bare.

This was great. The last few lines almost made me cry sweet happy tears. Just as the characters never gave up and did so regardless of what others thought, I hope CJ Roberts does the same. I WILL be reading more of this author's books!

Refreshingly Bold

Intrigue, sex slavery and trafficking , bdsm, Stockholm syndrome, betrayal and finally an HEA for a girl who you can’t help but feel deserves to be happy. It’s a great book that kept me captivated after book one completely sucked me in. Absolutely worth the credit. Well written and great narration.

What a great follow up

I cannot say enough good things about this series. It is tragic. It is dark. It is terrifying. It is beautiful. I obsessively listened to Captive in the Dark and Seduced in the Dark one right after the other, devouring them in a couple of days.

The relationship between Caleb and Livvie is heartbreaking and touching all at once. CJ Roberts did an amazing job with this series; the story was well written and didn't shy away from the terror of the situation, making it more appealing than it was.

Emily Durante was a perfect narrator. Her depiction of different characters was well developed, and the emotion she put into this story (so many varied emotions to play) could not have been better performed. I found myself feeling exactly as the characters felt, picturing everything so vividly as I listened.

Do yourself a favor. Do not pass this series up.

All the feels

Much like the first book, this was an extremely difficult read/listen for me. Given the subject matter is about sex slaves and human trafficking I don't believe it was meant to be an easy-going listen. But in some strange way it was a happy story with a satisfying ending.

This book was intense, emotional, dark, disturbing and all together wrong! However, I absolutely loved it. (not sure what that says about me the listener). All the twists and turns and OMG moments were amazing. I loved the flashback and flash forward storytelling in this one. At first it made my head spin but in the end the pay-off was so worth it.

Definitely worth a credit in my opinion.

Heart-pounding and intense

This book had me in tears it was so moving I loved this story this book was also well written. I know Caleb did some awful things but Livvie loved him and god help me so did I don't know if that qualifies me as an emotionally sick women but I could not help but to fall in love with this man. As much as I wanted to hate him and watch him hurt. He was a monster but he had a heart and it was an internal battle for him, Livvie was his savior. I am so glad that they were finally able to be together

Very Very Good

Great story. I loved the back and forth between Livvie talking with the detective about her experience in real time and then back to where we left off in the first book. I loved how protective Caleb was over Livvie..But he also wouldnt give up his revenge mission so that was annoying. Livvie was so fierce and protective over him too when it count. I loved them both.

great story
