Dr David Harrison is a UK based Masonic historian who has so far written twelve books on the history of Freemasonry and has contributed academic papers and articles on the subject to various journals and magazines which deal with the topic of Freemasonry around the world, such as the UK based AQC Transactions, Heredom, Freemasonry Today, MQ Magazine, The Square, the US based History Magazine, Knight Templar Magazine, the Philalethes Journal and the Australian based New Dawn Magazine. Harrison has also appeared on TV and radio discussing his work, such as in the recent French made documentary film Dans les Secrets des Francs Macons and an episode of the US made America Unearthed. Having gained his PhD from the University of Liverpool in 2008 which focused on the development of English Freemasonry, the thesis was subsequently published in March 2009 entitled The Genesis of Freemasonry by Lewis Masonic, and his second book, which also contained some of Harrison's PhD work entitled The Transformation of Freemasonry, was published the following year. Both works received critical acclaim. His ground breaking work on The Liverpool Masonic Rebellion and the Wigan Grand Lodge was published in October 2012. After a successful book tour of the USA and Canada in 2013, new books followed; A Quick Guide to Freemasonry was published by Lewis Masonic in September 2013, a new work on the York Grand Lodge was published in June 2014, followed by Freemasonry and Fraternal Societies which was published in July 2015. The following year, Harrison again visited the USA for a series of book talks, and two more of his works were published; The City of York: A Masonic Guide and Harrison's first non-Masonic work - a biography of nineteenth century industrialist and merchant Christopher Rawdon. The Lost Rites and Rituals of Freemasonry was published in 2017, and Harrison went on to publish a compendium of his work called A Journey Through Freemasonry in 2019. His next work; Rediscovered Rituals of English Freemasonry, examined the high grades of Richard Carlile's Manual of Freemasonry, being the second of the Lost Rites series. The third book in the series was entitled The Rite of Seven Degrees, and was published in November 2021. In 2022, Harrison ventured into fiction, publishing a collection of short stories entitled Down the Rabbit Hole and also published a collection of his poetry, published by Gjarper publishing. Harrison's next publication was a new translated version of the Rite of Seven Degrees ritual, which included discussions of some of the degrees by Richard Carlile. The book was again published by Gjarper publishing and is available through Amazon.
