Publisher's summary

All work and no wicked play makes Tiernan a very unsatisfied king…

Of all the Verran brothers, Tiernan is the least suited to wear the Night Court crown. The Rebel Prince is happy with no responsibilities or accountability—just the freedom to pursue his own dark, lush pleasures in Sin City. Including his secret hunger for a certain smart-mouthed, fiery redhead.

Only, the possibility of having Fiona is stripped away when Tiernan is thrust into the one role he never wanted: king. As king of the Dark Fae, wanting—let alone pursuing—anything with a lower-caste fae like Fiona would shift from fun…to forbidden.

Now war is emerging from the shadows of Vegas, and Tiernan is caught between who he’s meant to be and who he wants. And somewhere in this maelstrom of lust, love, and rebellion is the key to the Dark Fae’s survival…even if the cost is more than he can imagine.

Holy Moly!!

Gina has done it again! This was an amazing story. I love the relationship between Fi and Tier. They are such a cute couple and they are funny as heck together! The twist and turns were great. I can’t wait for the next book, I’m super excited.

Cliffhangers

The story is really good. The romance is fantastic, and it didn’t go as I thought it would. It was better, and I loved how heroine’s past was revealed and the hero reacted to the information. I cannot wait for the next book! 4.5 stars.

Great story! Worst female narrator ever!

The Good News: I was really excited for this book after listening to the first one. The story line and plot pacing are excellent and I agree with previous reviews about a 2.5-3 Chilli pepper rating on the smut to story scale. Great new characters, surprising twists, and good humor. And as difficult as it can be to follow an Aiden Snow narration, the male narrator does a great job in this book.

The Weird News: What is the deal with the female narrator? She continually stretches out the last word in each sentence and it's very distracting and annoying. She also adds a weird gravelly sound to each word at the end. I agree with previous reviews that this made the story tough to listen to. While there are moments where such inflections are appropriate, it sounds like every line is trying to be dusky and sensual, which is again annoying.

Final Take: This is a great continuation of the story and the male narrator carries it well. The female narrator is probably one of the worst I've heard and that's disappointing. My daily life is busy and I rarely have time to sit and read like I love to do. Audiobooks allow me to continue my love for literature so this one being almost unbearable to listen to was tough. I paid money for it so I finished it but I won't lie, dealing with the female narrator took some grit.

What is up with the female narrator?

I am only about an hour into this book but the minute the female narrator took over I seriously can't deal with the way she ends her sentences. Her normal speaking voice is nice but then she tries to put this fake gravel ending to each sentence and it is driving me crazy. It seems like she needs to clear her throat, but I think she is doing it on purpose. I don't know if she is trying to make it sound seductive or sexy, but it is not working. Is it just me?

Update! I couldn't handle it but I did find that if I increased the speed of the female's narration to 1.5x I can at least finish the book.

Such a good book!

So many twists and turns. I did not see the epilogue coming! This book is as good as the first one and I didn’t think it would be when I started it. I’m so pleasantly pleased!

Female Narrator - Annoying

I was so looking forward to this book. The female narrator is horrible. I can’t understand why she ends her sentences the way she does. It’s so annoying I can’t finish listening. I’ll buy a copy and read it myself.

Great!

Such a good read. Just as good as the first book, if not better. Cannot wait for book #3.

Can’t do the female voice

The book itself and male voice are 10/10. The female voice ruined it. As soon as their chapters came on I wanted to stop listening. Kinda ruined it I’ll most likely get the physical book and read it so I can actually enjoy it.
