I really like the writing style of this author. I was looking forward to this book after reading Bones. I really enjoyed the beginning of this book, when Bella was fighting Reaper, but as it moved along I was a little undecided. Bella really goes off the deep end, and I just couldn’t get okay with what they were doing. It was so random. It made it difficult to feel connected to them or even feel empathy for what they went through. I read some really dark stuff, and this is pretty mild in comparison, but I didn’t like how unapologetically selfish they were. Other than that, which wasn’t really the main story, I did like this book. Reaper is a lot like Bones, who I LOVED! The narration was great and overall it was a good read.

The characters are so totally chaotic you can’t help but love them. They are so uniquely adorable together. You never thought you’d be rooting for the psychopaths to find love. The trauma they go through is heartbreaking.

Reaper is a killer who doesn’t hesitate—until Bella escapes him and becomes something more than a victim. Their story is intense, violent, and deeply unsettling in the best way for dark romance lovers. I kept thinking “this cannot be happening,” but I couldn’t stop. I genuinely thought Bella wouldn’t make it long. Instead of escaping the darkness, both characters seemed to lean into it, letting it consume them completely.

⚠️ Check trigger warnings. Seriously.

Marie Hawkins gave Bella so much emotional depth, while Bryant Walker’s Reaper was terrifyingly calm and controlled. Together, they made this story unforgettable.

I’m equal parts disturbed and obsessed—and starting Kage immediately!

I don't know how to feel about this story. I was expecting to be as good as Bones but it was totally different from it. Also, I would have liked the spice to balance the romance. Just would have like to have a different male narrator. Hope the other book is good.

Omg I knew Reaper was going to be my favorite!! He’s so funny! And he totally brought tears to my eyes!!

And lord are these two ment to be together haha! She’s just as messed up as him and I’m here for it! She just adds an extra bit of juice to her events lol.

The audio for this is absolutely awesome! It’s duet style and will definitely be a must buy!!
