Publisher's summary

Games are an escape?

The fickle whims of the gods force Dakkon to take that sentiment literally. The announcement of some grand tournament doesn’t equate to glory when it's thrust upon him and threatens the life of his closest friend.

In the virtual world called Chronicle anyone could be hunting them. To keep his unusual friend safe, Dakkon goes on the run.

But - why not use laying low to your advantage? Staying off the grid might bring opportunity with the right amount of luck.

Avoiding well-traveled roads has its upsides. It’s the trips to unusual places where parties can collect unlikely prizes.

What secrets will Dakkon’s group uncover when they, too, are trying not to be to be discovered? Just how worried should they be?

Great performance of a decent LitRPG

When it came time for a refresher on this series I was glad to see who was voicing the Audiobooks. Great job

This was such fun

I really like the direction this series is going in. In my opinion there is good character development. I sort of like the fact that the main character is his own comic foil it seems. I want to see where this is going next. Let’s all keep going.

So.... Do you want to listen to someone's DnD game?

So I liked the book. But the tower? I skipped all 5 chapters. Boring. Pointless. Didn't add anything to the story. Might as well have not been written. If you like to hear about people solving puzzles that they themselves already know the answer to but have to feign ignorance then that is what you will get when you read those chapters. The people in this book are obviously written by the author and the author knows what is going to happen and does an extremely poor job in making it seem like the people in the book don't know. They are either overly dumb, or have stupid thought lines that only make sense to them because of anime side character confirmation. (That is where a side character explains why the MC did something in a anime so that you the viewing knows just how good they are because if they didn't say anything it would look stupid because it actually was stupid but someone else reaffirmed it so it isn't... Yeah anime logic) SO imagine you are hearing a bag GM in your DnD game do a really bad job at NPC reactions and you will get what the tower chapters are like. Thankfully it was only about an hour of skipped pointless and stupid content. It is reminiscent of the first few chapters of the first book where just stupid choices were made even though the MC was clearly not dumb but did dumb things because it was required for plot line. Still worth reading but know you can just skip the trials in the tower as they gained nothing, learned nothing, changed nothing. let me fix the book for you "The group passes all the trials and reach the top of the tower, unlocking no new skills, gaining no new incites, and losing nothing because the trails were boring to listen about and accomplished nothing. " There you can now skip all the bs and start when they reach the top of the tower.

Really enjoyed the book

I really liked this book. I missed the crazy scams that Dakkon was throwing out in the first book, but with the tournament, I can see why he would avoid people. I enjoyed the long drawn out nature of the book. It really made the world feel like a real one. I can't wait for book 3.

a lil boring.

Too much character development, not much action or plot. Little skill/character improvement. I want more class and skill movement.
