Publisher's summary

Some say that in the city of Orlyn, godhood is on sale to the highest bidder. Thousands flock to the city each year, hoping for a chance at immortality.

Lydia Hastings is a knowledge sorcerer, capable of extracting information from anything she touches. When she travels to Orlyn to validate the claims of the local faith, she discovers a conspiracy that could lead to a war between the world's three greatest powers. At the focal point is a prisoner who bears a striking resemblance to the long-missing leader of the pantheon she worships.

Rescuing the prisoner would require risking her carefully cultivated cover - but his execution could mean the end of everything Lydia holds dear.

Engaging World Excited for the series to mature

First, I am a huge Nick Podehl fan. This time a few of the female voices blended together, which is unusual for him. It's balanced by his ability to find unique voices for the characters here so they don't remind one of the characters from other books.

As to the story itself, I feel like there is a lot of great potential here and the world Andrew Rowe is creating is interesting and different enough from the usual run of alternate world fantasy to make you want to know more. The characters come across as much younger than they are supposed to be, there is some innocence in their actions and decisions that shouldn't be there given their ostensible roles. The climax was a bit too neatly wrapped but the stage is set to expand the world in the next books and I am really looking forward to seeing what happens.

Overall a credit worthy listen and an author to watch.

Such an enjoyable listen!

The War of Broken Mirrors kept my attention throughout. Nick Powel did a great job narrating the story. As a Brandon Sanderson fan I'm very happy to say I have found Andrew Rowe to be a fantastic writer as well. I only purchased the audio book because of Sanderson's positive review. Andrew Rowe is definitely an author I will be watching for!

Please give me more audible

thoroughly enjoy all the books of this series, I especially love the way magic is explained and the voice work is amazing. nick podehl portrays all the exceptionally well, but his salaris/talian/keras is his best work in the series.

The quest for answers… God's, Magic, Swords

If you enjoy a more compact fantasy story with a slight flare of Sanderson-like magic then you may very well enjoy this book.

while the length was far less than a typical fantasy, I felt that the author did a very good job of building up a solid basis of knowledge and connection with both the world and the characters. I was still left with a ton of questions about history but it honestly just made me want to read more of the series.

The story starts by just dropping you right into the middle of the tension and then explaining bits of the backstory as it progresses. The magic systems were well thought out and developed right along side the characters.

If you're looking for a fresh new take on magic driven fantasy then I highly suggest trying this series out.
